Gone to Disney, got the flu there on the first day no less of a 5 day vacay. Fun. Very fun.

Gone to Disney, came back with mono. 😑

Germs are everywhere. Kids, parents, air...and being among a lot of people in very crowded places, it can just happen.

I had mono as an adult (I was 32), never as a teen. It was BRUTAL. The doctor told me it’s worse, the older you are. I feel for you!

This is why I carry antibacterial lotion with me in the parks...With so many hands on railings and ride handle bars and what ever I touched..You never know what ypu picked up..

Over 12 trips, I’ve been sick after getting home about 4 times, sick there 2 times ....always starts with sore throat and just being tired....which is bad for us, because we drive to NJ. It’s a long day...wife drives more than me because of it, and that’s not fair

never gotten the flu, just varying degrees of head/chest cold

I thought it was just me! Although not happy that anyone gets sick in Disney that posted here, just glad it’s not just me.

We use hand sanitizer like crazy

Get tested ASAP. And if your doctor says it’s just a cold, insist on a flu test.

I came back from a Disney trip in Jan. 2018 and fell ill. I was 64 yo. Three doctors and as many weeks passed until I insisted on a flu test. To the doctor’s surprise, I had the flu which had been untreated for three weeks. That made recovery a ‘bear’! I was in bed for six weeks after the diagnosis...

Get treated immediately. And get well soon.

I hope you’re feeling better soon. ☹️ December of ‘18 I was there and the numbers coughing, hacking, sneezing and non-hand washing people I saw was disturbing.
I avoided it, thankfully. I washed my hands thoroughly (not 3 seconds on one finger with no soap 😉 like too many people do), Clorox wiped the room, and had hand wipes in my bag.

Like a few others in this thread we are pretty OCD about our hygiene at the parks or on DCL ships. Airborne for a month before hand, lysol wipes in the room (including inside drawers), hand sanitizer, and being careful to sanitize after touching railings and rides.
As for airplanes, they recently came out saying that headrests are some of the dirtiest parts of the seat. Something to keep in mind 🤮

The last four years in a row we've gotten sick on our DW trips - always in Dec. The first 3 we got sick mid trip and ended up at Centra Care (upper respitory infections, sinus infections, colds, everything but flu). We always get flu shots, and take plenty of vitamins, airborne, elderberry, acai, and green tea before and during. This year we made it to the end of our trip before we got sick (home Dec. 24) so we got to go to our own Dr. right after xmas - again with colds! Seriously, everyone is always sick in Dec. when we go now. Love the xmas stuff at DW, but considering another time of year now. Unless something heinous happens, like some horrible outbreak there that would make us afraid to go.........

Years back they ran a terrific special at the Contemporary - something like $99 a night! I had a tower room overlooking the MK, but on my first day I started with the cold of the century. I spent a lot of that trip in my room, looking out at all the people having fun, and whimpering cuz I was too sick to join them!

Oh yeah I forgot this one - we all took elderberry syrup for a few days before and during our trip too to boost our immune systems!

My son and I left Saturday and on Sunday I was sick and finally feeling much better today. My son left school half day on Tuesday and stayed at home with me yesterday. We didn’t have the flu but a similar virus. Felt achy and weak, but nothing like what people describe with the flu...I also had a friend get food poisoning at Dis the same week I was there
