While I commend your loyalty to your friend I think your decision is foolish. Would he have done the same if the positions were reversed ? Its a dog eat dog world out there and its all about self survival - there may be a very good reason why he wasn't offered a job.

I'm sure race played absolutely no part in the decision process. Disney is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and would get in tons of legal trouble if it discriminated based on race (or anything else for that matter). Furthermore, the Disney cast is extremely diverse, with all sorts of racial minorities in both front-line and management positions.

There are lots of factors that may have come into play. You may have interviewed better than he did. Also, by this time, some roles have begun to fill up, and they may not have had anything to offer him from the roles he chose.

Race place absolutely no part in regard to on-boarding decisions. The program is one of the most diverse environments that people will ever step into.

wkutopper- That is your decision, and I respect it. However, the fact that you were extended a role and your roommate was not probably had a lot more to do with a lesser personal/phone interview than anything else. It also may stem with a limited variety of roles available that he chose not to select (for example, if he only chose Hospitality on his role checklist, his chances go way down quickly simply because not very many people get this role). Again, I respect your decision, but there is probably a much more analytical reason why your friend was not accepted as compared to you.

If he would like to know why he was not accepted, it is possible for him to email College Program recruiting, and I believe they will follow up shortly thereafter with a email/phone call to give your roommate feedback on why he wasn't selected.

Noble but sort of silly, chances like this aren't too common, and I understand you wanting to go with your friend but you can't hold yourself back because of others! And i honestly doubt racism was involved!

That was a nice thing you did for your friend. But I can assure you, race does not play a part in people being not accepted.

Hi, I would like to say first, I do NOT want to start a racial issue or offend anyone in any particular way. If you don't mind telling, what race are you???

I am in the minority (Afro-American), and from personal experience, I have not seen or heard of any unequal treatment to guest or cast members. Disney has many minority managers, professional, regular cast members.

Disney has sponsered the WDW Florida classic for a few years now, and even uses minorites in promotional and vacation videos (DVDs). I go to Florida A & M University currently, and know for fact disney recruits at my university and others (Hampton, Howard, BCC etc). (If you don't believe me look at the presentation schedule on wdw college website.)

I was selected to participant in college program this fall and have greatfully accepted the offer. Throughout the waiting process disney has NOT shown any evidence of racism. What disney has shown me personally is support and concern to my well-being. Even on the board (DIS boards, my name is spectroaddy on their), currently cast members from past and present have taken time to answer my questions, along with making me feel comfortable to the transition with the disney company.

I am very sorry, your friend did not get accepted to the program, that's life!!! Things happen to everyone in this world without an explanation. So please be careful next time before you use the "RACISM" word. This word in our society is very powerful and can cause a lot of trouble for individuals.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!

Unless it was an in person interview I'm pretty sure they have no idea what race you are. I don't remember the application asking anything and the interviewer definitely didnt ask.
