Got a PIN in the mail, but I have a question

I finally got a PIN in the mail for a discount stay at WDW, but it is in the name of my daughter's friend. She came with us one time (when the girls were 15) , and the mailing came to my address but it is in the friends name. The friend is now 20. Since it was mailed to my address, can I use it?

Thanks. But that sucks since she was 15 when she went with me and my daughter (daughter wanted to take a friend) so we just used my address, and the PIN comes in her name! grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have the same issue. Our offer came in my 11 year olds name. Problem is his last name and mine are different. Any suggestions on how to handle booking if he isn't going?

We got a pincode in our friend's name, sent to our address. The friend doesn't live here but we booked a trip once for her, booked our rooms together and just put our address down at the time (we went on the trip also.) My mom called the other night to ask if we could use the pin because it was sent to our address and she was told no, we could only use it if "Tina" specifically was going on the trip. She can't go with us this year, so we were unable to book the discount. Sorry. :brick:

I just got off the phone w/ WDW reservations and guess what........I was able to use the PIN code even though it was in my nephew's name. They said as long as it was mailed to my address!!! I saved $600.00!!!!!! So for those of you who were told no, I would call again and speak w/ another CM. Because I just did it... And they actually didn't even ask for the code, they new what the deal was already and posted it with out my PIN. Good luck everyone.:sohappy:

I would love to know how you get the PINS as well!!! I occasionally get stuff in the mail for trips, but never at a discount! I have only personally booked a trip once, the rest were thru my family. How can you get a PIN?:drevil:

I called and was also eligible for the pin, although it came in my niece's name at our address (She took a trip with us once). The reservationist said both parties would be eligible. I'm waiting for the AP code though, since it will be a bit cheaper.

Incidentally, we have been to Disney over 50 times and have only gotten one pin postcard, about 10 years ago, strictly for the Poly. This is the first since then, and it is in my niece's name.

I can't believe that you were able to use the pin. MY dad lives with me and he recieved a pin in the mail and I was told that I could not use it. Keep in mind I have been to disney many times and have two future trips booked through them and my dad has never gone and hates Disney. Go figure.

I don't know how exactly you get on the list for pins and mailings.I have been receiving them for quite awhile now both through the mail and via email. The funny part is that we do not book our vacations in my name. We use DH's. He has never received one through the mail but did get an email for the reduced room rate that came out in summer.
I got the latest one in the mail yesterday. (Sleeping Beauty)

My understanding is that it has to be booked in the person's name. I had family that wanted to use the pin and could not.

We have never used a code ironically, because they always seem to come right after we have booked or as is the case now, we are getting ready to leave.

I'm not sure exactly how I have ended up getting these PIn codes the past two years, but I have ordered vacation planning DVD's for our past two trips. So maybe that has something to do with it. I am also registered on WDW website and signed up to recieve mailings. And a tip for the future even if you have already booked your trip Disney will still honor the PIN code and reinburst your money via a check in the mail!!!!! I've done it twice.....Have a wonderful trip!!!!

Hearing that some people are having luck, we may try again to call and get the PIN applied as it is our address on the postcard, but the name listed is a person who won't be traveling with us this time. It sounds like it depends on who picks up the phone

I just got a pin in the mail on friday. It was addressed to my stepfather and he is not going with us this year. Someone from Disney told us that if the address on the pin is our address then it would be perfectly fine to use it. We didn't end up using it because we would have had to switch to POR saving about $100..and it just didn't seem worth it at all, when I really want to stay at FQ. It was weird though, because the first time disney was contacted, they said that the name on the pin wasn't on the reservation so it couldn't be used...so I thought, figures Disney would mail it to my stepdad when he rarely ever goes to wdw lol. The second time disney was contacted, they said it could be used .... Just weird I dont know.
