Just got a great flight out of Portland Maine in September for $227 round trip!!! Now I can start making all my plans! Yeah me! I am driving 4 1/2 hours to Portland but oh well with the money we are saving I hope to be able to get to MNSSHP. Any suggestions on how to keep a one year old and a five year old entertained during our flight??:p Where would you make your First ADR for? We arrive around 2pm and we are thinking about goint to DTD and doing TREX?

First ADR would be Garden Grill. Great food and it is a character dinner! The kids will love it!! Not a fan of T-rex but others love it as will your children! Try not to let the one year old sleep in the car as much as possible. If you have not purchased a portable dvd, it would be a good investment for sanity during your trip! If all else fails Jameson and benadryl work great;)

If you are trying to avoid using a park day that first day, downtown disney is a great choice. there is so much for the kiddies to do that don't cost. lego store, fountain to run in, fossil dig at t-rex, store at t-rex, world of disney etc. personally our family loves t-rex. we have boys 4 and 2 (and a newborn- his vote doesn't count) and they both love t-rex. your kids are just the right age to really enjoy it. the food is good in our opinion, not outstanding best food ever, but very good. and the "erupting volcano" for dessert, is a major hit. i agree with your first day plan.
as far as the plane, we learned that the engine noise really made it hard for the kids to hear a DVD player- good headphones are a must. the last 2 times we let them use the iPad to play games instead and it worked well. don't know if your one year old is just one, or almost two. at just one, we kept the kid hungry and tired until we got on the plane, a bottle and off to sleep he went. by almost 2, he played on the iPad instead. few sit in place games, window clings and books also help. we learned the matchbox cars- REALLY BAD IDEA- did you know that if they roll off the tray, they can roll all the way down the aisle?

Awesome price and woohooo!!! Congrats!!!! Video games with good earplugs, like @docdebbi suggested. Before your flight, download lots of free games on your Ipad too!! You can even download flight tracker apps, that show where the plane is and how much longer you have to go. Our first ADR is always at Ohana whenever possible, but with the little ones, @figmentfan423 is spot on, do Chef Mickey's!! The kids will love seeing the fab 5!!! and that IS the perfect way to start a Disney vacation to a child (and me!!! LOL) seeing the Big Cheese himself!!

Wow, great rate! who'd you book through?

I'd go for my first ADR at crystal palace probably. Be right in MK and then hit the park

We live in NJ also. We have driven to Baltimore to take advantage of low airfare. We have considered driving many times but always flew. The big advantage is you dont loose as much time to travel. Even if you drive straight through you need time to reccuperate. There is a value to this as time is money even when you are on vacation. If you only have 9 days vacation (sat to the following sun) and kill 4 days driving then you have only 5 days in the park. If you fly you end up with 7 or 8 days.
