Heck all my family needs to do is hit the main gates when we drive onto the property. Kid gets all jumpy and we all get a rush!!

It's sort of funny, but maybe normal for a lot of people-

When we get back to WDW and walk into the Magic Kingdom it's not a really goose bump experience; it's like we're back home.
Like we just came back from somewhere else and now we're home.
It feels natural to walk down Main Street.

i went back last year after ten year gap, and as soon as i walked under the station i just started crying!!! i couldnt help it.i felt sucha fool im a 38yo male! i just felt 'at home' and happy.i had to go over to the corner and regain my composure before i could continue.

now ive got goose bumps as ive gone backwards and read a few other peoples posts...its not just me who gets teary! hooray ,where were you when i was having my breakdown, perhaps disney should install a emotional corner somewhere on mainstreet, where you can go and let it all out! we could all huddle together.

Um, last month I cried when we got to our hotel room, during the HISTA preshow (I'm a sucker for dogs,) during Soarin', during Philharmagic, during Wishes, and... I know I cried during other things, that I can't remember.

We are absolutely as ridiculously emotional as the rest of you!

• When we land at Orlando airport and you see your first palm tree and smell the warm Florida air....we know we are getting close.
• When we see the highway sign off I-4 West that says "Walt Disney World", I nearly pass out from excitement.
• At the hotel room the first night watching Wishes and Illuminations in the distance from our hotel balcony and thinking....."we'll be there tomorrow!".
• Taking the monorail or ferry to the Magic Kingdom entrance and watching the opening ceremonies and how they make you feel like the day you are at the park is an extra-special day.
• Of course your first stroll down Main Street USA, not taking your eyes off the castle, the smell of cookies and the sounds of Mainstreet. We tear up everytime and at that moment you are COMPLETELY content and fulfilled, all else in the world goes away.
• The end of Wishes when they bust into "When you wish upon a star" always makes me cry....it's the time where the tearing up switches to full on crying....silly, but awesome!

p.s. - I don't even need to tell you how I feel when I see and ride Haunted Mansion for the first time.......forget about it!

I'm a late bloomer. I've only been to Disney World a few times. My first time was just a couple of years ago.But just the thought of Disney is enough to excite me. I even exclaim" Disney" out loud when I see the commercials for WDW on TV. And even though it may come close, there's nothing as thrilling as the first time. There are so many moments you'll always remember. Like when you see Cinderella's Castle from the ferry for the first time and know you're actully in Disney World, not just watching it on TV. Or hearing the music from classic Disney movies as you're watching "Mickey's Philharmagic"
and remembering watching "The Wonderful World Of Disney" as a kid growing up. I can't wait to experience the thrill again

Ooohhh...I concur on PhilharMagic! The first time I saw it during the scene where you fly through Agrabah...definitely a goosebumps moment.

Or the first time I rode the Tower of Terror and saw the ghosts...chilling.

or "Welcome, foolish mortals"

"Golden Dreams" at the American Adventure

And the first time I rode Mission: SPACE was a surreal experience...I actually couldn't stop giggling during blast-off.

Take-off on Soarin.

Any nighttime show--especially when you see Mickey at the top of the mountain at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheatre.

This thread really makes me smile! I get goosebumps, warm fuzzies, hair on neck stands straight up feelings just reading about what makes everyone else feel this way! Isn't amazing how joyful we can all feel just THINKING about the magic of Disney World?

For me though, the moment that it all sinks in and I get super giddy and start squealing with delight is when we finally drive onto Disney property. Seeing the purple signs with the iconic black ears sticking out of the top that are pointing us in the right direction towards our resort... it's just priceless.

From the moment we decide to go until the next time we decide to go we talk about it all the time! Getting of the plane and smelling Florida I always ask DH can he smell the heat. Then seeing the billboards and checking in on-site. Yay! everyone so nice, friendly and helpful and polite,(feeling that special Disney magic you just don't get off-site). Walking into the resort shop and seeing all the Disney stuff. Waking up at 3am because of the time difference and being too excited to sleep, getting the kids up and ready for early magic hour. 1st Mickey pancake/ waffle breakfast:sohappy:. Getting to the park and tearing up - groans from the kids at their embarassing mother. Just love every second of every minute of everyday that we are there and can't wait till August. Thank the Lord for this website to give me a fix.

Is it 'Goofy' that I cry on several occasions at Disney....walking down Main St for the 1st time, during SpectroMagic parade, leaving the parks on the last night, and on the flight home.

I've never seen anybody else cry at the parks, is this just me being dorky ??

A few things that do it for me each trip are:

- First sight of the castle
- Getting on the monorail for the first time
- Walking onto Main Street (every time)
- First ride on HM

Two things start the "feeling"

-The main entrance sign "Welcome to Walt Disney World"
- Final stages of Wishes (quite possibly the most intense "hair-standing" moment I have had!!)

Yep. I get it in several places in the World, especially at the American Adventure when you hear "the Eagle has landed".

But got me to thinking...
how horrible do you feel on the day you are leaving Disney?

Ehhh... it's such a bad feeling driving away from it all. Like reality seeps in and it is a true sadness.
Like you never want to leave.
I hate that feeling of letting go of the magic.

You know, I'm never THAT sad when I'm leaving. Of course, I always wish I could stay just a little bit longer... but when I leave I know that I'll be coming back. It's very comforting to me to know that WDW is always there waiting for my return!

I love reading this thread. Reading all the posts, it is nice too know I am not the only person who get all emotional going to disney world. For me the excitment starts as soon as I plan my vacation. I know I always get goosebumps during the nighttime shows like Illuminations, Spectromagic parade and wishes. I love disney! I never went as a kid. I live in Chicago and never flew on a plane until I was 20. Mom and dad never flew and were afraid of the unknown. Mom often talked about going some day, it was a dream to her. Dad never had much interest.

My first trip was in 2000. I was 29. It was unreal. Years of wondering and wishing, I had certain expectations. I remember getting off the plane and taking Mears Shuttle to All-Star Movies. I remember looking off in the distance while on I-4 looking for the castle. Little did I know it was set way back on property, only to be seen once deep inside the magic. I had no idea of it's size and magnitude. WDW was not some amusement park off of the interstate, it was it's own island. I'm almost embarrassed at how small my thinking was compared to what it really is. I was hooked.

In 2003, my 2 sisters and I decided to take our family's to WDW. Mom and dad were just retired and in their early 60's. After much prodding, we convinced them to board a plane and head to Florida.

The day we arrived, we settled in and headed to the MK. My eyes were fixed on my mom as she entered Main St for the first time. She began to gently weep, and she said, "I've seen it on TV, but I never thought I would be here....I can't believe Im here!"

You wanna talk about tears???? I was a mess!

Oh... I dad liked it too. He loved Philharmagic!

Such great stories! So great and brings back so many wonderful memories that I'm tearing up here at work. Thank goodness I'm working late and don't have to explain to anyone. They think I'm nuts enough as it is. "Going to Disney again?" is what I hear when I announce I have vacation coming up.

I'll never, ever, ever forget my greatest goosebumps moment: Seeing Cinderella Castle for the first time while sailing across Bay Lake. It was only a few years ago, but man!

I get the same feeling from SE, any of the fireworks shows, seeing the characters and just about anything else in the World. And that HISTA preshow should not be allowed! Sad little boy + lost doggie + sappy music =

"Like a grand and miraculous spaceship . . ." and from the sage of time's/narrator's opening of ROE through the Tapestry of Nations playing while I watch World Showcase empty out .

Oh, and rounding through town square and seeing the castle! :sohappy:

Probably one of the most tearful/happy singular moments was watching a young child dance with the TofN puppets on 12/31/99 -- that was such a special moment I will never forget.
