I know we haven't had our new project assigned yet, but as I have been newly elected as team leader for this round, I thought I would get a jump start...

I wanted to ask each of you a question before we begin...

IF you were hired as an actual Imagineer for Disney...which of these jobs do you think you would be most excited to do?

(and yes, you can pick more than one!)

Idea Development

Concept Design

Show Writer

Art Direction

Engineer/Builder

Other

Just so I have an idea of how to delegate (mwa ha ha!) when we get down to the wire!(because man, these move fast, don't they?)

Thanks!!

lol, nice start, chron! I must admit i got slightly excited just seeing your post.

ok, to be honest, i'm in college for mechanical engineering, but i'm a broad interest person; i like a lot of things, to be honest.

When i get in ( i say when, because i will, one day :D), i'll most likely go for what i'm set as atm (engineering, etc). but personally, art direction is nice, and my dream is idea and concept creation and development.

in the long run, i'd like to do what imagineer jason grandt does ( i just met him at dining with an imagineer, and it was like looking in a metaphorical mirror); and be an overseeing project leader. he pretty much works out the initial idea and sends it alon, checking it over as it goes from start to final project. from the few projects and competitions i've done in the past, i tend to fall to this path.

what do you want to do, chrononymous? ( i know this is for reference for you, but its still nice to hear!):)

Thanks for the all the info mewhunter! You sound like you are well on your way!!
Meeting with Jason Grandt must have been really fabulous! I can only imagine ...bouncing questions off him...wow.

I have always considered sending a resume to Imagineering, but the lack of a formal education or degree has held me back.

My background is in art, design and theater.
I write, direct, and perform shows for my own company...doing historical based murder mysteries, puppet shows and fringe theatre stuff.
I do freelance illustration, costume and prop design and construction...as well as writing all the games, riddles and puzzles for the murder mystery events.

I also managed a small theme park, and designed part of a halloween event for a major one.

For me, Concept Design and Show Writing would be my Dream Imagineer job!

(though honestly, I would work in whatever capacity they would want me to!)

I, in my capacity as a president of a theater and director, specialize in what I call Immersion Theater. A feeling that you are a part of the show, creating a greater sense of reality for the event. For me, I think I would be great at overall theming, creating storylines for lands are figuring out how to ties in little details to ensure the immersive experience we all desire when attending a disney theme park.

Thanks Fractal! That is very very cool...and I can already see how you use your theater and directing skills in the other projects so far! You have a great eye for detail and a storyteller's vision.

It's very cool getting to know you all a little better too...

I wanna know about the rest of my team!

I work in a Drama society, although I can't top Fractal514, so I would have to say my strong points are idea development and show writing. I know I haven't really shown that off yet to the team but hopefully in project 3- whatever it turns out to be- I'll finally be able to.

Sweet! Ok...we have a New Project posted!

Our task it to take an attraction at the MK, and layer a new Halloween overlay on it for the holidays!

Brainstorming time!!!

What's so funny and apropo about this, is that I just designed something exactly like this yesterday after visiting the Halloween and party expo...

My idea was to take a merry go round(like Cinderella's carousel), and add temporary walls around it... then have the ride deluged in blacklight...while the horses were draped in new coverings...painted in glowing black light paint to look like bones...so you would be riding a boney dead steed in the dark, passing mirrors affixed to the outside wall, so you can see the effect each time you circle around.

But...thats WAY too simple...and I think we need something huge and awe inspiring to work with!

So...HM and Space Mountain are out...

but Splash, Pooh, Country bears, Big Thunder, Jungle Cruise, Stitch(ooh...maybe we can make a better show?) and Pirates are all fair game...first come first served!

Pirates seems so obvious...

But hey...what do you guys like???

I'm sure I'm missing all sorts of attractions...

I kinda like the idea of Tom Sawyer Island...being haunted with spooky effects in the caves, or ghosts along the walk...hmmmm...

We could do a LOT there!!

Alright, everyone! Mater has posted Project 3! (this one IS an elimination round, now, too)

It seems Jack Skellington and Crew are bored with taking over only a few attractions at holidays, and would like us to help them think of another.

Basically, we have to choose an attraction and design the holiday makeover. Also, it appears Jack says that they (the characters from Nightmare) dont have to be included, but it can be done. (I actually thot of you, chrononymous, and what you mentioned about designing a halloween celebration!)

We just need to think of an attraction! :) anyo e have any good ideas?

ok, i know this one may look obvious, but i was thinking a halloween changeover for pirates of the caribbean? (i'm not the biggest new pirates fan, but it's there, and it looks cool)

we could tie in the various monsters, but mostly, get teh skeleton crew involved! :) i could just imagine as guests sail by the pirate ship, the moonlight casts on the pirates and they change to skeletons! :) (i know that was a computer effect, but i think it might be able to be done otherwise, leeme think on it!)

i was also thinking somehow having jack and jack together! XD (however, the stories don't necessarily fit, so *shrug* I just thot it was funny)
I could imagien jack, at the end, rocking it the chair, with moonlight on him, possibly doing the coin flip thru his bony fingers, and going, 'that's interesting' while still singing 'yo ho'

what you think?

pirates just popped to my head, but wow, chron!

jungle cruise seems really cool, but stitch? hmmm, just as intriguing, but that will take a work to do! :D i wonder how to do it there!

good starts at least :)

jungle cruise, could involve zombies, maybe we could highlight folklore or superstitions found along teh riverbanks?

I just noticed you also mentioned pirates is obvious! I figured, it jsut was like, wow, that works!

But, anyway... hmm, splash mountain would be a task! i wonder... ooh! maybe palying on teh ghost town at thunder mountain?

I know I know!

See...pirates just doesn't seem like much of a challenge to me, I guess..and I think we should go with something really original!

I had this evil thought if a creepy living doll overlay in IASW...changing the song into a minor key, and and bringing different world folktale "monster stories" into it.

but then NO ONE would ever ride it again!!! Shudder....

AH! CAN'T be Small World...probably a good idea.

i am liking Jungle cruise...for the scary /funny opportunity

and I still think Tom Sawyer Island has all the room we need for boo-spooky fun...though maybe not such a good theme...

Here I am worrying about getting what we want first...but I don't know what we want til we hear from everyone (or a majority!)

But really...we could do amazing things with just about ANYWHERE!

I have had exactly 5 hours of sleep over the last THREE days...so i'm on the kickin'caffeine sleep deprived overly wacked out Creative Train right now!

OOh...Railroad...haunted ghostly railroad...

Ah, but it's already been done...
