Thanks- I actually have a case and my other iPod was in a case when it was dropped and the LCD screen cracked- the case has a flip down top so people can't see it's an iPod or anything (it's also padded...Which is why I don't get how my LCD screen cracked)

This one is hard plastic and I really don't see is you ever getting a crushed screen or scratch with it. Now if you were playing it and dropped it the shock could still damage the hard drive but I don't see any case (unless you jammed it in a pillow) from stopping that if you hit it just right.

For an interesting read on how much abuse the new nano can handle, check out the Stress Testing part of this Ars Technica review, shows it still playing music after being dropped from a moving vehicle at 50 MPH, being driven over, etc.

Wow, I can believe it. My 20GB iPod has been dropped, squished, crunched and took an unexpected swim in the toilet ( :lookaroun ) and still works like a dream. My brothers iPod mini went through the washing machine ( ) and the dryer (  ) and still worked fine. But it finally died when he spilled apple juice on it. I guess it had had enough at that point.

Hmm...white or black...white or black

I was torn myself. I was given it as a birthday gift and was given the choice of having it in my hands at white or returning it and being placed on a waiting list for the black version. After much back and forth, I decided to wait for the black one.

I got the Black version. I'll post pics when I get a minute.

I just purchased a Belkin FM Transmitter, and had it hard wired into the car, so the Ipod is now functional in the automobile :D

Cool. How did you hard wire it? I was looking some of the new head units that have a hook up for the iPod in the back so that you can control it from the head unit but they are so expensive.

I hard wired the FM transmitter so it turns on and off with the car, which also leaves the stereo open for other things. Like, say I'm feeling retro, I'll dust off the old walkman and put it in place of the Ipod.

I say within 45 days there's a whole series of accessories on the market.

And the nano is not immune to fingerprints... grr

Sorry for not understanding though what you mean when you say hard wired. The reason I ask is a couple of years ago I had read where someone took a transmitter (the iRock) that was hooked to their iPod and they opened it and attached a wire to the antenna inside and then ran the wire to the antenna in the their car so that no signal could interupt. Just wondering if that is what you were talking about.

They have cable sets you can get for about $60.00 that run to a port on the back of most stock stereos, but mine is not one of them. So I need some sort of solution as my radio does not do well with the transmitter.
:(

FM transmitter isn't too bad of an alternative until they come out with a proper FM modulator for the nano, or another method of connecting it. I have it set to 107.3, since the closest stations to that in the Orlando market are 106.7 and 107.7. It plays on 107.3 with no problems.

Next on the list is a holster or some sort of platform to mount it on inside the car. I'm thinking since it's so small, one designed for a cellphone should work. I'll have to wait and see though.

alrighty... I'm toying with the Photo functions, and I have to admit... the slideshow is just cool. Listening to good music and staring at my DC pics is definitely cool.

Other things.... the Music Trivia game is pretty fun... especially when you have as many MP3's as me... I forgot I have half of them and can't recall which song is which

Assuming it is the same firmware that is on my 60GB iPod photo, I agree the photo options are nice. Scrolling through it neat but if you do it too much it does eat up battery.

I did the music trivia on the plane on my way to WDW last month. Really is fun and a great time killer.

Yeah, that is a great game! I just wish there was a "high score" or some other way to track how little I know about what I've sucked into my collection
