Good travel strollers

Hi all.

What's the best stroller for a 1 year old that you've found for travelling? We are thinking of getting another one as the one we have was more for accomodating the infant carrier and now we are looking for one that's sturdy but lightweight and easy to travel with for her this September.

Any suggestions? Thanks much!

We recently got the Maclaren Volo. Our other stroller was big and bulky (and not so easy to get around WDW with). We wanted something like an umbrella stroller, but didn't like how most of the cheaper umbrella strollers were made (too short, not very sturdy, no basket underneath etc.) The Volo is very sturdy, nice tall, padded handles, lap or 5 point harness, storage basket, easy-to-clean mesh seat, folds small like an umbrella stroller and has a built-in carrying strap. Although the Volo was a little more pricey then some others, we really liked it and have been very happy with it. I am looking forward to using it at our upcoming WDW trip!

I would go to some stores near you and check out what they have, with a 1 yr old you will need one with a sunshade of some type to protect that sensitive skin, the cheap umbrella strollers don't usually offer that. the above post hits all the other important options, with a 1 yr old you might also want a stroller that offers a recline option (for us that was a must). Our pegperego offers those features as well, but we bought it w/our first daughter who is now 7 so I don't know what they make now. good luck though. good luck.

Thanks for all the tips! Yeah, our cousins have a peg perego that i kind of liked (that's what gave me the idea for getting a new travel stroller) and I definitely like a recline feature as well as a sun shade feature. one thing that was nice (i think the peg had it) was that you could adjust the shade all the way around (rather than just coming down from the top) - so if the sun was in their face, you could bring the shade down lower to block the sun from the front side.

I'll go check them out at the stores but I love hearing all the pros/cons of what you all like.

Keep it coming!

Hello, I gave a long relpy to this question on the "taking a 1 year old to WDW thread", but in case you didn't see it, be sure to check out strollers4less.com It can really help you expolre what strollers have the options you want. (and the prices are good too.)

Oh and I almost forget (and this is a MUST) get one of those rain covers for the stroller. They way it rains of and on in FLA you really need it. I borrowed one on our last trip, and it saved the trip. I won't go with out one from now on. (they cost around 12$)

Thanks!

Thanks DisneyPhD for the note - yes, I did check out your note/website suggestion - I want to check out the strollers in person first and then I'll search for the best price of the one that I like... sometimes it's deceiving in print vs. actual usefulness.

Thanks for the rain cover tip though! Yes - it does rain a lot in Sept so we'll definitely get one of those... at least someone in our party (my 1yo) will be dry... ha ha ha.

Thanks! :D

What I did was check them out 1st on line, then find those strollers in the store (Babies R US, Right Start Store (the only ones I found that carried Mclean and the "good" combis, Baby Depot at Burlington Coat Factory.) I tried them out in person (with the baby) and then ordered it on line. There are a lot of good light weight strollers out there, and they really make things so much nicer. We still use our big Evenflo one (that the infant car seat came with) but we keep it in the garage and keep the combi in the car.

There was some I never found in the stores (some pegrgo and some of the double strollers.)

If you do order on line, make sure you do it more then a month in advance, also you want to get used to your stroller before you go.

I haven't had any problems with the Combi, but I have heard great things about there customer service, they are great about replacing or fixing things.

Another vote for the Maclaren. Lightweight, compact, durable and easy to push. I bought mine with touring WDW in mind. Worked great. Also did well in NYC.

Sincerely,

Len
