Good places for lunch at DCA?

If I may ask, does anyone have an opinion of the fish & chips at Stage Door Cafe (at DLR) or the selections at Taste Pilots' Grill? We've got to also factor in our 7 year old's eating habits.

It would be wise to make reservations. Be forewarned that Carthay Circle is the priciest restaurant in DCA

We tried going to Carthay Circle without reservations in early May & got turned away. It was a Monday & the park really wasn't busy. We were surprised. If we get back out to DCA, we'll definitely make reservations.

Hungry Bear was great for the location. But they don't have regular fries (at least when I asked) and I hate sweet potatoes. As in, have hated them since I was a baby. According to my mother, she tried to feed the sweet potato baby food to me and I spat it out. So if you don't like sweet potatoes, beware.

Well one of the reasons I am going to Hungry Bear is because of the fries! I don't know what blog I was reading about them, but they were ranked #10 on the list of the tastiest snacks at the Disneyland Resort. Plus I've eaten there previously.

Heh. I agree. They're disgusting.

That's why I get onion rings instead.:D

Oh cmon! Why so much hate towards the Sweet Potatoes?

I actually love sweet potatoes but unfortunately, the ones at Hungry Bear just don't taste good. The onion rings are the way to go! They're huge and tasty and worth my money. I could get full just from eating the onion rings.

You can't tell me the sweet potato fries look more appetizing:

If you like standard Disney counter service (I do), you will like Taste Pilot's. But there isn't enough seating.

Seconded. So good...

The fish and chips at Stage Door are really good. What does your 7 year-old like to eat?

He will eat the fish & chips and maybe that turkey sandwich. It looks delicious! Most WDW places also offer the uncrustables, which he ate when he could. He may eat a chicken nuggets, burger or pizza.

I'll give another shout out to Cocina Cucamonga! SO delicious. Flo's was good, but the atmosphere was definitely better than the food. It was awesome to watch RSR while enjoying lunch :D. Boudin was good, but we ate there in March, which I think is more appropriate soup weather.

I don't really remember the food at Flo's (only eaten there once, when it first opened), but I just tried a milkshake this weekend and it was amazing - they put pieces of Oreo in there, so good. Cucina Cocamonga carne asada & chicken tamale plate was very good. They also serve the chicken tamale at Flo's for breakfast with eggs & tomato, also very good if you have time for breakfast. I've always been a fan of Garden Grill in Paradise Pier, they've got skewers of meat with different sauces you can choose for them.

Would also tell you to consider Storyteller's Cafe at Grand Californian which is accessible via DCA (technically only for hotel guests, but usually if you tell them you are eating at the hotel they will let you in/out). And if you can hold out for dinner, Napa Rose is the best restaurant on the property IMO -- although I have not yet been to Steakhouse 55 which I hear is amazing as well.
