Besides the price difference ..what makes staying at a Disneyland hotel worth the extra dollars? We are booked at Sheraton Anaheim but I keep second guessing myself and think we need to stay at a Disneyland hotel....any thoughts ?

That's your WDW-sense kicking in...

The Disneyland Resort hotels are so expensive. The benefits are just not the same as the ones in Florida. You just need a place to sleep... It's not worth the extra cash for the onsite hotels, especially the Grand Californian. You could be using that extra money for souvenirs, or something.

I stayed there in Feb.

No...no it is not worth the price difference. The perks are minimal (using the third gate isn't even really strictly enforced), and the EM benefits aren't really needed.

Another hotel to check out is this one - http://www.anabellahotel.com/

Also, which Sheraton Anaheim are you staying at? There are two. One is on the north side of the park, and a bit further to walk (though it does offer shuttles, and of course there is ART (Anaheim Resort Transit).

The other is south of the park and a short walk away.

I left you speechless? Yes, yes I am magnificent, but humble about it! <grin>
Seriously though, I don't see your response.

We did get Park Hoppers, but avoided Meal Plan....I read how bad it was compared to WDW ....we have always ended up with the free Dining plan at WDW

Anytime! There are some offsite hotels with Disney decor. I forgot which ones have them... I can try and find which ones do. Would you like that?

Thanks Raven24 for the offer, but I think we are fine at the Sheraton Park...I believe we will see enough Disney decor at the parks, and like you stated....it is just a place to sleep....we go from opening to closing the parks! And to top it of...I get Sheraton points to work towards our next trip!

Good choices.

The Meal Plan at DLC is more akin to the Meal Plan at USO...and...totally not worth it. It runs on a voucher instead of a credit system. Just a waste of money. Plus, I suspect you will find you may wish to dine off property or at DTD a lot (google Fire and Ice).

However, unlike WDW where Park Hoppers are nice, at DLC (in my opinion) they are required. You will find that you enjoy bouncing between the parks to catch different shows / rides. For example, you can get a fast pass for RSR, then go ride a bunch of rides at DL, then skip out to DTD for lunch, then back to CA.

The parks are VERY close, and VERY small in comparison to WDW. You can't plan the same way at all...

Always glad to help, and raven24 knows her stuff too and I know she enjoys doing this sort of thing as well.

You will LOVE DLC...but just go ahead and put it in your head...it is not WDW.

In fact...repeat that...over and over again.

"It IS NOT WDW!" <grin>

In my experience, DL and CA are not full day parks...at least not in the sense the Florida parks are.

Take your time with them, slow it down. Bounce around a bit. You'll find it's a completely different, and yet Disney, experience.
