Good Morning Gathering

I was just reading WDW news and saw they are discontinuing several gatherings as of Jan. 2012. One is the Good Morning Gathering. Is this for the Magic Kingdom when the train arrives with the whole gang? Or is this a special breakfast gathering? And why do you think this is?

Thank you for posting so quickly But.. I did see that post and that is what prompted my inquiry about what the Good Morning Gathering exactly and why these those gathering are being discontinued. I did not see any postings under the administrator's post talking about it in detail.

I believe the Grand Gathering Events have not been promoted enough or are too pricey and just not as popular to keep them going.

The Good Morning Gathering was a special offering for Grand Gatherings that consisted of a character breakfast at Tony's before official park opening. The traditional park opening with the characters on the train is an entirely different entity.

The Grand Gatherings were an addition made during the "Magical Gatherings" Promotions. Designed for large family groups that were vacationing together. This trend has started to falter, and with it the events that were put in place at that time are losing their relevancy. They were swell little events, but quite frankly, I don't think anyone is going to cry over this.

Our last two summer trips to WDW we tried to get into that breakfast at Tony's and it was only offered on certain days, we could never find an opening for our group of 11. Which was sort of funny because we had no problem getting into Cinderella's for breakfast and that was about 60 days out. I don't know how the food was, we were just looking for something different within the MK.

I attended Tony's with a party of 11 last year. Honestly, it was just meh. It was the cheapest of all the grand gatherings (took only 1 DDP table credit. Food was ok (buffet served directly to your table.) Character interaction was great. The only cool thing was that you got a Tony's "Grand Gathering" trading pin, which you don't see many people with.

Interesting. Was it crowded when you went? We really wanted to try this one, as we always used to try to do at least one breakfast at Tony's before they quit serving breakfast. I don't know that the food was that amazing back then...but we loved the quiet break after an early morning in the parks.
