Good-bye rituals

When I know I am leaving a park for the last time at the end of a trip, I stop at the exit for one long, last look and a quiet thanks for a great time. Town Square is the hardest though. I have to keep turning back for one more look at the castle. Anyone have any special rituals for saying good-bye?

Do you man besides crying, taking one last photo, and saying, "Can't we just move down here? over and over?

Dh is just waiting for me to say "Okay, that's it we're moving here." He wouldn't even look back! I still have my mom up here. (She lives in the nursing home practically next door.) I'm just not free to go. But I can dream!

chaining myself to a lightpost, railing, ride, attraction, and having Disney security have to cut the chain to evict me and carry me out

While at Epcot (around Canada), wait about 10-15 minutes after Illuminations and then walk all the way around the World Showcase. By the time you get around to Mexico, it's like having the park to yourself. Just a slow, leisurely walk. It's one of my favorite things to do.

Wow, SpongeScott, that sounds awesome! I have to do that!

Last few trips have seen my last day at Animal Kingdom where I'll take one last looks at the Gorillas and Tigers, relax, have a final plate of ribs at Flame Tree BBQ and when it comes time to leave in the afternoon for the drive to the airport I just head out without looking back.

But on one occasion, on the last trip I made with my mother Mickey was just outside the gates with no queue, so we stopped and took a photo. Which is now somewhere in the Steamboat Mickey collage at Disneyland :)

Interesting choice, Barnum, having Animal Kingdom as your last park to visit before leaving. Is it your favorite park?

We have pretty much the opposite here. My DH's mom is in a nursing home here, so we're staying put for a while I guess. My mom lives about 30 minutes from WDW and I'd love to move down there to be closer to my family (I also have a brother and sister in FL). ......someday!

I usually don't think about it. Our last park on the last day is usually Epcot. We watch IllumiNations, I take one last look at Spaceship Earth, and leave while trying not to think about how long it will be until I'm back. :(

Damn you, now I really miss WDW! It looks like it'll be a while before I go back, too...

On the last night, I usually walk around the resort I am staying at after dark. I take it all in one last time.

The last time I stayed at AKL, I wandered around by the pool and found an empty hot tub. I sat down on the edge and got my feet wet and just thought about the trip, listened to the sounds, and looked at what was around me. I wandered the halls, went into the gift shops, and finally said good-night.

Whenever I leave, after checking out, I always take my time, doing one more walk-through. We usually leave in early in the morning before most people have gotten up. The resorts are so quiet and serene in the early morning. I usually take one last look, get in the car, and drive away.

As I pass under the sign welcoming you to WDW, I quietly say "See you real soon."

And I mean it.

I am such an emotional wreck. I go through the denial stage first(Nope, not gonna leave)...then bargan phase (Can't we stay just one more night?) then I just accept it (Okay, i'm leaving but i'm coming back next month)

I always do the last long look down Main St. Actually, on our last day at MK I kept looking over at the castle and saying to my husband: "Look how beautiful that is." I'm usually very pensive on the last day, thinking about what we'll do on the next trip.

I usually try to hit the MK on my last day and I always turn back to see the castle one more time then I don't look back on the monorail or fairy.

But my next trip will be different, This time i'll be able to say "I'll be back in a couple months!" Then I get to see it anytime I want. Whoo Hoo, College Program here I come!!

That's my ritual EVERY time...and I had the good-fortune of living/working there for a whole year...
