So my wife and I made a trip out to DL last week. She had never been to the park, and it was my first trip since 1999, so Cal Adv was new for me. Anyway, expecting the crowds to be huge, which they of course were, we made PS's for dinner both nights, 12/27 and 12/28. On wednesday we made a PS for the Trattoria at the winery in CA. When we arrived, we were told our reservation was for outside seating. I told the CM that this option was never give to me on the phone, and I did not ask for outside dining, nor would I have, as it can get cold and windy, which it was that night. She replied, "sometimes, they don't ask on the phone, and it makes us look bad." I asked to speak with the manager, who said there was nothing he could do except put us down as a walk-up for inside seating. When I asked what the wait would be, he replied "I have no way of knowing." Needless to say, I was pretty ticked at this point, so we left and went straight to Guest Relations, where they had a better attitude, but just gave me a printout with Guest Relations contact info. I was more steamed than ever, and we were getting hungy. We walked into the Grand Californian, and decided to go to Storytellers cafe. I told the CM at the host kiosk (Samantha), what had happened to us, and she put us in as a PS holder, which made our wait time only 10 minutes, rather than the 50 minutes they were quoting to walk-ups. Samantha's great attitude made up for the less than stellar CM's we had dealt with. Also got to meet an Imagineer who wrote the show story for Philharmagic, so the evening worked out pretty well.
