Good alternatives for September trip

My family and I are planning to go in Sept. and we need some (hypothetical) help.
We were planning on going to the Sci Fi Dine in for lunch, but with all of the park closings we dont know if this is a good idea. Can anyone recommend a good sit-down on the cheaper side?

Well I wouldn't count a trip to Sci-Fi out...but there are plenty of restaurants in other parks/resorts that are in the same price range. Could you give us an idea of where else you'd plan to be if you didn't go to HS that day?

Epcot would be the safest guess. We already have a meal at Garden Grill picked because a family member couldn't be there last October. Disney Springs would likely be the next place on the list.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
All depends on what kind of food you all want and how much you want to spend. Look at all the menus and prices then decide. :)

Ooh love Garden Grill! Well at EPCOT for dishes under ~$20, I'd recommend Rose & Crown or Chefs de France. Since you're already going to Garden Grill, you might want to do a 180 and also dine at World Showcase.

As for Disney Springs, I haven't tried any of the new offerings there, but The BOATHOUSE seems to have some fans and a few things under $20. I've been to the Rainforest Cafe there which is certainly relies heavily on the theme of the restaurant like Sci-Fi does. Similarly, there is T-Rex Cafe.

Ooooh.:geek: I forgot about Chefs de France. In the Lobster Bisque soup, the lobster walks though it more than the fast food, as my mom says!:)
T-rex would definitely be an option!

Haha...you won't find Lobster Bisque at Sci Fi, that's for sure! Chefs is sooo tasty, and the desserts are to die for. Though now we're talking appetizers and desserts, this may not be a under $20 meal now. :p

Yeah, If I go there, I'll have to have the mousse, and things can add up quickly.

Going back to my original post...I wouldn't rule out a visit to HS. Many of the very enjoyable rides and shows are still there (unless you were a Backlot Tour enthusiast!) Even if you don't want to spend the whole day there, you could go for some entertainment and Sci-Fi, then enjoy some nonpark time around the Boardwalk or go minigolfing at Fantasia Gardens (assuming you don't have park hoppers?)

But it's obviously up to you. Have fun with whatever you decide!

Yep agree there is still plenty to do at HS and great options for food as well. :)

Well, we still are. It was just in case the SCiFi closed due to the construction. Writers is right next door and closing and that brought this all on. We end up at epcot most days during a trip.

Ahh, I see. I wouldn't think Sci Fi isn't in danger of closing...if your party would really like to eat there, make your reservation! You'll probably find out if Sci Fi is gone before you get there. ;) Nice to know you have flexibility though.

You could always walk to Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club on the Boardwalk. The menu is similar to Sci Fi. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. We have walked there a few times from Hollywood Studios, but there is also a boat ride you can take.
