Golf Planning for December Trip

I need input from the WDWMAGIC crew. I have a family vacation booked for the second week in December. We have two room a CRB. I want to take my new son-in-law golfing a couple of days. Since we are flying and will not have a rental car, how do we make our transfer to the golf course?
Also, any recommendations on which courses to play and why?

Thanks for the help and looking forward to the responses!

I can't help much with a personal recommendation as I have never hit a golf ball in my life but this link will tell you anything you could every want to know about the golf courses at WDW. Disney will provide transportation to one of their golf courses in the form of a voucher for you to give to a cab driver.

You can get a free taxi ride to any WDW course. Just check with the bell desk for a voucher. Under a new program, club rentals are free for anyone staying on property, so you don't even have to bring your sticks. All the courses are great, you can't go wrong with any of them. Lake Buena Vista often gets overlooked but it is beautiful and winds through the Saratoga Springs resort. Palm and Magnolia have the cachet of hosting a PGA Tour event every fall, and Osprey Ridge is challenging. Enjoy!

Next trip, Nov. 29-Dec. 5, POFQ:xmas:

Can you use the free club rentals if you are staying at Shades of GReen?

I just got back from WDW and stayed at Coronado Springs. I decided that I wanted to play golf one Saturday so I went down to the front desk and the concierge put me on the phone with Disney Golf Reservations. I told them that I would prefer a course where I could play by myself since I am not very good and so I played Lake Buena Vista Golf Club. I thought it was nice ... I had a 12:15 tee time so it was very hot, though.

You go over to Bell Services and tell them that you have a tee time at ______ Golf Course and need to see about a taxi. They give you a voucher and you walk outside and tell the guy you need a taxi. He calls one over and you are on your way. (the gratutity is already included so don't let the driver pull one over on you unless you just feel like you need to tip him more)

When you get to the course and are checking in just make sure that they know you are from _____ Resort and that you expect free club rental. They give you a choice of either using Titleist clubs or Cobra clubs.

Be sure to bring your own golf balls and golf glove - I had to buy both and spent $40 more than I had wanted to. Also, don't forget your soft spikes. I had no intention of playing while we were there and so all I had were tennis shoes.

When you finish, just tell the Pro Shop Attendant that you need a taxi ride back to _____ Resort and they will give you another voucher.

By the way, the Turf Club Bar & Grill at Saratoga Springs Resort (which is where LBV Golf Club is located) has an EXCELLENT prime rib dinner that I used my DDP on. My wife had the tuna and she said it was great too.

Love the Palm and Magnolia, classic tracks, some trouble but pretty much wide open.
And there is something about hearing that train whistle from MK while playing......makes me realize I'm not just playing any course, I'm at Disney.

Once again, the WDWMAGIC crew is helping BIG TIME! Thanks for all the info.
A couple of other questions, do the courses mentioned charge a different fee if playing in the AM of PM and do they usually try to pair you with another couple to get a foursome?

The prices can jump all over the place. The link in my first post has a price breakdown for each course. You more than likely will get paired up with other players to make a foursome but if you are there during a very slow time you might be able to play as a single.

My DH loves to golf. His favorite course is Magnolia, although he said it is a tough course. It has a big Mickey Mouse sand trap. Can't really be too mad if you end up there right? :)

He has always been paired up w/other players too. I'm sure it does depend on time of year/crowds though.

I looked up the info on wdwgolf and got the rates. It looks like the rates drop quite a bit in December. I think I will try the Magnolia and Palm courses. I especially like the idea of being close to MK and hearing the train whistle while I play. I also want to see the Mickey Mouse sand trap. I have driven by that course several times in a car and the guest buses. I also attended the PGA tour event there for one day several years ago.
It's great to know about the voucher for the taxi service and the club storage. My only hope now is that I can come out of a winter hibernation in December and still manage to post a good score on a tough course!
