Golf Cart Rental at Ft. Wilderness

Has anyone rented a golf card at Ft. Wilderness lately? We made reservations for our stay in Oct. & Dec. and were told we'd be charged when we check - which seemed totally different from last fall. When we stay in 2014 we were charged 24 hours "before" we arrived. When I contacted Disney (2 times) they didn't have a clue...figured they must be training new people. I'm totally confused now as to which it will be.o_O

i rent each time i go. i wasn't charged until i showed up. i did call ahead of time last year (november '14) to reserve one and if i recall correctly they did hold one for me but did not actually charge me until i was at the desk.

i'm also not surprised that you're getting different answers (or clueless answers). i love fort wilderness but you can ask 10 employees the same question there and get at least 5 different answers. they're good folks but that's usually a sign of a lack of direction from management honestly.

have a great time, definitely my favorite resort

I agree with you. I love Ft. Wilderness and your correct with the employees. Who knows the procedure may change by the time we get there in Oct. The strange thing was the girl that we made the cart reservations with also told us there was direct to room check in...don't think so. We're just going to go with the flow.

Are you staying in a cabin or your own camper... We stayed there last fall and they told us we had "direct to room check in"... which I think meant we didn't actually have to stop at the check-in building since we already had our magic bands, we could have just called to verify the cabin and never set foot in the check-in office, but we didn't understand how it worked and stopped in the office only be told by some CM that we were already checked in and could just go to our cabin without going through all the check-in stuff you usually do.

Frankly if that is what they are talking about I would still go to the check-in office because it is the easiest way to get all the information in one place and ask any question you might have... the new system that is supposed to eliminate having to check-in is not very conducive to getting information that you might need to make your stay easier.

We are staying at the cabins. The last time we were at the cabins was Oct. of 2014 and at that time they didn't have direct to room check in. We just got back from staying at OKW and didn't know we were going to get direct to room....to our surprise a text came to the cell phone giving us our room number. That would have been fine but we had never stayed there so we went to the desk to get information anyway. We've been at Ft. Wilderness so many times we really don't need to go to the desk....and it would be nice if they would charge us for the cart before we get there. In 2014 all we had to do was go directly to the golf cart guy & sign our paperwork and off we went. Now the lady that we spoke with on the phone about reserving our cart said there was direct to room check in (but not for the golf carts which we didn't expect). I've had another disney person tell us it was not available. We have a while to wait so who knows but thanks for the reply..maybe we'll get lucky.

Either way have more fun than possible at my favorite resort!

I have been unwilling to forgo a trip to Orlando and WDW for as long as it would take me to save up to stay at the cabins (we pay with cash, never use a credit card for anything other than a deposit, house rules) and I miss the place so much! The cabins are my favorite! I am thinking a two night stay this fall may have to happen, just because it has been so long since I stayed there.

How much is it to rent one? We may be staying in the cabins in September and I just saw that you could rent one. The website says $59 but I didn't know if that was for the day or week.
