Golden Oak... Anyone?

As soon as my numbers hit I will. :ROFLOL:

Seriously, I think that actually owning a home on the property might take the fun out of taking a vacation to WDW so, if my numbers actually do hit, I'll just make all of my dream reservations...like Club level or the Pres Suite :king: or something....

Just keepin' it Disney!:p

You know I kinda said the same thing and questioned whether I wanted to work here or not cause I didnt want it to ruin my vacations with Disney. After I talked with a few CMs and now being one, I still have the same love for the parks as a Guest as I did before. I dont think living on property would chage that... for me at least

If I had the money to buy one the homes in Golden Oaks it would probably not be my only home and I would be VERY wealthy. It would be my "vacation home" so the magic would not diminish. Buying it is not the only expense - there is the furnishing, upkeep, maintenance, utilities, insurance, TAXES, etc. So I think I would have to win at least the $200,000,000 lottery jackpot in order to enjoy and keep it!! That being said I haven't given up hope yet to win the Powerball!!

Way out of my league but it's fun to dream. Which neighbourhood would you choose? I'd want to live in Kimball Trace, I think.

I'm with you. I love that Tuscan architecture.

I have to say I'm a little surprised that Disney's going into the real estate biz again. I though Celebration was a bit of a failure?

I think if I had that kind of money, I'd just plan to stay at the Four Seasons rather than buy and have to maintain a house there. Tho it does look wonderful.

A developer came in and sold multi-million dollar home sites near where I live. Prospective buyers came in by helicopter to view the sites, and paid up to $5 million just for a piece of land. The development company, which is very well known for developing elite exclusive communities around the world, went bankrupt. I'm sure Disney wouldn't let it go belly up, but the development may not turn out exactly as "proposed".

In personal experience, the guard house and pool described in my covenant was "proposed" when I bought my land because I bought it in the pre-development stage. I learned that anything proposed isn't set in stone. We have a pool - but certainly not one large enough for the development, and our guard house at the gates is no more than a glorified bus stop cover for the school kids.

Yep, if I had that kind of money, I'd just book the premiere suite at the Four Seasons.

Even if Disney can sell these, I think most of them will be vacant the vast majority of the time. The folks that can afford these prices will likely spend most of their time near a major financial center like New York, LA, London, Dubai, Etc. I'm sure a good chunk of them will wind up being corporate-owned as well. This will work our well for Disney, since it will minimize the funds it has to spend on the promised concierge services. You don't need a lot of staff to service empty houses.

Not that I wouldn't love to live there, but as others have said, that would require winning Powerball.

I found some of the info a little questionable. They make it sound like 3/4 of a acre is a huge plot of land. Once you plunk down a 5,000 sq foot house plus a three car garage, there isn't a whole lot left to 3/4 of an acre. In the area where I live, we rely on septic systems and private wells; there is no city water or sewer. By the time you allow for the footprint of the house, the septic system, the replacement space and the required distance to the well, the minimum you can build on is about 1/2 acre.
