All I know is I think that Mission Space is opening during the Fall. Other than that I don't think much is going on around that time. I know some rides will have beend one being renovated and up again. Rides like the GMR and WTP.

Night of Joy is where they park stays open later and religious groups are encouraged into the park. There are always Christian bands playing and stuff like that. I have never been either, but I have heard that it is pretty busy, and a very good time!

if you will go to www.disneyworld.com you can type in your dates... heck, just put sept 1st throug oct. 1st, and click on all 4 theme parks, and whatever else interests you and you can see all special events planned. (it might be too early for that now though). hope you have a great time! I will hopefully be a CM by August! Might bump into you there! ha ha.

We went last September for our honeymoon and it was a great time. Crowds were extremely light. Most rides were walk-ons, even Rock-N-Roller Coaster! The weather was very nice and most of the employees were still on their toes.

The two drawbacks to going during this time is the off-chance for refurbishments on several rides and attractions and reduced park hours. For example, the Haunted Mansion was closed and there was a huge crane in front of Cinderella's castle as they painted it. It kind of took away from the magic because I felt I was missing something, like it didn't feel complete. The shorter hours didn't really mean much because you still had plenty of time to see most everything. I just didn't like that I had to leave before it got dark.

We're going again this year, but we're waiting until mid-late October so we can catch Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. The crowds are still light and the weather is much nicer than the summer. We're hoping the refurbishment period will have passed by then.

That's my insight into the September WDW experience. Hope this helps!

Hi All,
I'm reading this forum for over a year now and it's great :D
Anyway, I'll also be going in September.

"I just didn't like that I had to leave before it got dark. "

And I was wondering if the park hours are shorter, what about the fireworks? For this it has to be dark, right? ;)

Last year, the Magic Kingdom closed around 6pm, Epcot Future World closed around 7pm, and World Showcase stayed open until 9pm for Illuminations. MGM stays open until around 8:30-9pm for Fantasmic. Animal Kingdom was open something like 9-5pm, but trust me with the short lines, small crowds, you still have plenty of time to see everything this time of year.

I love going in September, went last year, and going this year September 5-15th!:)

The good thing about off season/small crowds/short lines and early closings is that you have plenty of time to check out those non-park things that you never had time for before.

mini golf
DTD
resort exploring
etc.

We usually always go in September and/or January for the same reasons, lite crowds, cheaper rooms etc. It's also alot more relaxing b/c most of the rides have no lines and you can spend more time doing the other things. Like YellowShoes said, you get alot more time for other things. Have more time to lounge around the pool, checking out Boardwalk and Pleasure Island etc.

Everytime we've gone in the off season, they have had fireworks at the MK on weekends, Illuminations and Fantasmic every night. I think PI still has a small fireworks show at night. (Since having a kid, we haven't been there that late in a few years!)

We have never not been able to go on a ride because of long lines and have been able to go on the most popular rides many times.

Also PS's are alot easier to get and sometimes you don't even need them at all, even for Cinderella's. The last time we were there, we got PS's for that night, a Saturday, 7 pm show for Hoop-De-Doo and it was still half empty.
