Going to WDW... with bipolar disorder?

I would say even duck into First Aid for a while, if it was any other day of the year I wouldn't give it a second thought, but when you are going , unless you are staying a Monorail resort you are looking at hours to get back to your hotel potentially.

I suffer from social anxiety and at times I just need to decompress, its not so serious I need to isolate myself totally but I can sympathize. You may want to question your time of visit and know your own limits and ask if you really want to spend that time with your closet 30,000 friends.

If it were only 30,000 it would be OK.

Might not have a choice. If she or a member of her party are in, say, the teaching profession for example, it's either the holidays or summer. Of the two, I know which one I'd pick.
Hit it on the head! Thanks to everyone for their tips though! I think we're going to Epcot for NYE, so hopefully I don't get phased out of there if I do have to leave. I guess I'll just see how the day goes, who knows, I might be perfectly fine? Haha. However, I like to have backup plans just in case.

All four park also have a baby care station where you can take babies to nurse or just wind down. I don't think anyone would object to a single person slipping in there for a nice quiet place to relax and reboot.

Planning ahead is a good idea so you can put some strategies into place. I have a big problem with crowds so I need to gauge timing. There's nothing worse for me than getting "trapped" before the fireworks start at MK. I literally dash between people to get to the exit but always find myself behind a double stroller, a scooter or the people that just don't move. Anyway, I would suggest to take your park visits in increments. Don't do too much at one time. Pace yourself and know that you're only going to do a bit at a time and then take time-outs between. In your case, a park-hopper would probably be a good idea. It'll give you freedom to remove yourself from a park if you feel overwhelmed and maybe try another park that's less upsetting. Disney is a wonderful place but your mental health is the most important. Make sure to take care and allow yourself to do what you need to do to be ok. Have fun!

Have you thought about asking your p-doc and/or therapist for coping skills for when you feel overwhelmed by the crowds? You have quite a bit of time before your trip to come up with a plan and implement it. Sometimes just knowing you have the tools can give you confidence to going into an unknown situation (in this case, crowds).Whatever you chose to do, I hope you'll have a fun trip. :)

If you're at Epcot, you shouldn't need to worry too much about a phase closing. You could always go out the back entrance and chill at the yacht/beach club for a bit. There are usually quiet places to sit in the lobby without too much going on. MK is trickier, but I wholeheartedly encourage Tom sawyer's island. It's quiet and you can find a bench to relax on for a bit.
Have a fantastic trip!

The upper level of the Main street Railroad station is also a good place to sit and hang out and look out over Main street. Its usually a quiet enough area.

From my own personal experience with NYE at WDW Epcot is really the best option for your needs. It generally does not "phase close" that night and there are multiple locations to recoup your mental wellbeing. All of the parks have a mass exodus issue after the fireworks but Epcot has a few more spots to hide out at until the bulk leave.

Transportation to and from any resort via bus is going to be a bit of a strain at any time unfortunately. In the evening waiting it out and going between the giant group that leaves quickly after the fireworks and the stragglers that stay until park close seems to work the best for me. This past years NYE I hit the buses at 1:00 AM just as the park was closing and I was on a bus with 10 other folks. If you’re staying at a resort out the back of Epcot this is a bit easier as you can walk back.
