Going to WDW Alone!

Hi all,

I was wondering have any of you out there ever traveled or been to WDW alone. What are your thoughts about goin' alone. I am considering on possibly going alone for my 21st birthday in August of 2003. I want to go through the whole bit with the Pixies to see what kind of surprises I might get since it will be my birthday. I didn't do anything special for my 16th nor 18th birthdays. My parents wouldn't let me go on Senior Beach Week after I graduated high school even though I graduated with Honors. I love the thought of being able to explore Disney World by myself. Doing the things that I want to do. Plus, I want to splurge and do the kinds of things that I know my family members wouldn't do, like get a $75 Disney haircut, get a massage, go to the spa, etc. Plus this time around, if I do go, which I really want to, I AM GOING TO STAY RIGHT ON PROPERTY!!! The past two times I have been there with my family they wouldn't cough up the money to stay at a resort right on the property. Although we did stay at (2nd time to WDW) the Travel Lodge Tower hotel, which was close to Downtown Disney, I think. I would rather stay at a resort right by everything. Money is really not a problem right at the moment, simply for the reason that if I know that I am going to WDW, I know that I will have enough adreline in my system to work my tail off to get the money.

Meega, nala kwishta!
All the times I've visited WDW alone, I was buisness in Orlando or Tampa, so I'd drive over to WDW at night, and spend time at Downtown Disney. Deff a great place to visit when your alone, plenty of people to talk to there. :D

The only part I didn't care for was eating alone, but the CMs are good about striking up a conversation with you if you look a bit lonely.

The only thing I wouldn´t do of your list is the $75usd haircut! ouch! Specially if you are a guy! Not so much to do with a man´s hair! I would use that money on something else.... there are sooo many things to shop for!

But this is why he wants to go alone! :)

Actually, it sounds like a great time -- I'm jealous.

(Hey Mark in KY, couldn't let the irony go of someone from "Independence" saying "I am the kind of person who enjoys being alone", too funny.)

haha, I almost always go by my self to Disney World. When I went with my family most of the time I would venture of on my own anyway, but now I live really close and can go when ever I want, but since i am so new to Orlando I don't know anyone. so hehe I am always by myself. presonaly I love it, but it would totally depend on the person I supose. if you like to be alone a lot at home then you will have a great time, but if you would rather be around people more, then you will get lonely.

DO IT!! DO IT!! DO IT!!

OK, OK. I can see what's coming next:

"Let's all get together and go to Disney World Alone!" HAHA!

I've gone Solo a few times and really enjoyed it. Nothing at all to worry about! Though, if youare like me, thereis no reason to splurge on an expensive Hotel, because I am never there! Stay at the Caribbean Beach resort and spend your savings on great dining and partying at PI!!!

Seeing Disney alone give you all kinds of time to do everything! I am one of hte few people I know who can see all 4 parks in 1 day if I need to! :king:

One bonus is my own little motto: THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM FOR ONE MORE!! You can go into the single riderline if available and skip the lines and even get into Dinner without a reservation....WHY?.....Because TARFOM!!!!!

When touring the World solo, you can also decide where, when, or even if youare going to sit down and relax a bit, eat dinner, get a snack, etc....and which shows to see without holding a group meeting first!

In short, I say GO FOR IT! And, if you like, we can all go solo with you! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!! :p

Hey,
I think your plan is awesome. Going with the family, you cant go to the places that YOU would like to go to. I absolutley love going to the parks by myself. I myself am really a somewhat shy person, but in this kind of instance I get over it, due to the fact that I am at the Happiest Place in the world. At least it is for me. Working their also pays off somewhat. You know when and when not to go to the parks. If you need any more help, feel free to email me.

I've visited Walt Disney World 20 plus times. This year I finally ventured down there alone and I had a great time. You can do whatever you please. On the 21st, I'm traveling down to go for a day by myself until a couple of my friends meet up with me the next day. I can't wait!!!

AP For Sure

Late last night, I was daydreaming about going on the trip to WDW alone. I have it narrowed down to about two or three hotels: Contemporary, Polynesian, or Wilderness. Contemporary will be my first choice. I may go after a Tower room. But, if I don't get a tower room it wouldn't bother me. By just being at the Contemporary Resort is enough for me. I will probably stay somewhere between 7-14 days. I figured I probably would buy the annual pass for WDW. I know you are probably thinking that I am insane for going for 14 days. Here is my reasoning: First of all, if I go for 4 days, by the end of the 2nd day I am already worrying about the fact that I will be leaving soon and it detracts from the vacation. Also by going 14 days it gives more probability of having some kind of decent weather. I got to thinking late last night that it will be hurricane season when I go in early Aug.

For sure you should get the AP if you are staying 7 to 14 days! Go to www.mousesavers.com to check the AP holder resort rates, you will get a code to use when you make your reservation. You will probably get such a good rate that it will pay for the AP! Also, it will encourage you to visit WDW again just before your AP expires.

Hey, also, be sure to get a "Today's My Birthday" button so that you will get lots of attention & special treatment.

I went to the MK last night by myself. I did not arrive until around 6:15 p.m. watched the end of the parade then went on Haunted Mansion and IASWAA(I usually do this once every few years but there was no line and its nice and relaxing to sit in the back of the boat). I hung out until about 8:15(even though the park closed at 7) then headed back to my car.

I have been to Disneyland and Universal in LA by myself, and I had a lot of fun.

But I enjoy company more than going by myself... just something about a shared experience.
