Going to a resort for no good reason

I know that there have been a ton of threads about parking at resorts for various reasons, but I'm curious about the policy on visiting resorts for no reason at all. I'm moving to Orlando and I was wondering if it is okay to go to a hotel just because I wanted to walk along the Boardwalk, for example. Basically I have two questions:

1) Is this something I can do?

If yes,

2) Would I be breaking the rules and "getting away" with something, or is this allowed?

If it makes any difference, I'll be a salaried cast member (don't know if I get any parking privileges or anything).

Anyone can visit a resort just to look around, shop, eat, use the marina, etc.

Swimming in the resort pool is for resort guests only.....

I know of plenty bloggers, podcasters, etc who have visited resorts and taken photos, videos, and walking tours of resorts.

You specifically mentioned the Boardwalk so I will address that first...

the Boardwalk is a destination, ie shops, restaurants, etc, so ANYBODY can visit there and park in the PUBLIC lot.

You can visit any hotel on property just let the guard know that you want to "check it out" (possible future trip, making restaurant reservations, shop), but you may not use any of the amenities such as pools and spas. You can rent watercraft (with proper ID), bikes, etc as they are open to the paying public.

I don't think the fact that you are a cast member makes a difference, but I'm sure there are a few CM's here who could answer the question of "perks".

My DH and I did something like this when we wanted to see all the Christmas decorations. We were staying at another resort so we had that parking pass. But we were issued a temp pass for each of the resorts we went into. We just walked around and checked out the decor. It was fun. I don't know for sure but I would assume that as a salaried cast member, you can park where ever and when ever you want. That is my assumption though. I have a friend who is a cast member as well so if you can not get a confirmed answer, I can ask her.

Yeah, I don't swim in public pools even when I am the guest of the resort lol.

Hm, I didn't even know such a lot existed. Do other resorts have a similar setup?

No, the public lot is NOT for the Boardwalk Inn (that has a guest lot and a valet lot) the Public lot is for those going to the Boardwalk, of which the resort is just one part.
