Going from Boardwalk to MK....

So we already have plans on booking a bounce back before we leave next month, and we might be giving the Boardwalk Resort a try. I was excited because we can walk to Epcot but what about the Magic Kingdom situation? Do they let you go through Epcot to the monorail station before Epcot opens, or are you better off taking a bus? Also, if you do take the monorail, how would you get back? I ask that because Epcot of course closes earlier than the MK, therefore you wouldn't be able to walk through to the BW. We will have a rental as usual, but I was hoping to max our time using the monorail.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Your best bet if relying on Disney transportation from the Boardwalk is to take the bus to MK. Walking through Epcot to get to the monorail, even if allowed early in the morning is quite a long walk from The Boardwalk. You enter at the back of Epcot at the International Gateway which already is a 10 min walk or boat ride to the IG entrance itself, much less walking from there all the way to the front of Epcot to get to the monorail which would be another 15 min walk give or take. You would probably already be at MK by then if you would have taken the bus. Then as you noted being Epcot is closed earlier you would have to take a bus back at night anyway from MK back to The Boardwalk. Lol :)

Or take your rental I meant to add that. We drove to TTC/MK and AK when we stayed at The Boardwalk and it does not take long at all. We rather drive when the monorail is not an option instead of using the busses. :)

I despise driving in the bubble so for me I'd use Disney transportation. FYI, BW shares a bus with the Swan. If I may ask, was there discussion between BW and BC? I think the kids might like Stormalong Bay a lot more than Pennywise the pool.

You can enter Epcot when you want to either go to the Monorial or just wishin Epcot but it would require a ticket (not a big deal if you have a hopper), however it would have to be during operational hours of Epcot to travel within it. I must say the walk from Boardwalk to the transportation center is not that bad. Once you enter through the International Gateway hang to the left towards the countries then go through Future World to the transportation center. However the easiest route by be using the bussing system. We always stay at WL and take the bus everywhere except for MK. We have never experienced issues with the exception of DT travel time but that is because of all the construction taking place along the original route.

Ah yes. I was confused about the pool area. After a quick huddle with the kids, we'll be giving the Beach Club a shot next year.

Well, if we have to take a bus we'll just go ahead and roll in the rental. That's okay though, a small price to pay to be staying next to my favorite park!

Remember that if you drive to the MK, you're actually parking at the TTC. So you'd have to drive, park, take the parking tram to the TTC, then the monorail or boat to the MK. The bus to the MK goes directly to the MK front gate. Even if it has to stop one or two places, it will still most likely be less hassle and time than driving.

This. We always get a rental car, but always take the bus to MK because it drops you off right by the gate.

We stayed at the boardwalk our last stay. We only took the bus from the boardwalk to AK. We obviously walked to Epcot. Walked through Epcot and on the monorail to MK. And took the boat to HS. We're in good shape though so walking isn't an issue.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take to get to MK that way?

We left the hotel I'd say at like 9am stopped at the Starbucks in Epcot on the way and we were still there by 10am. And 10 of those minutes were waiting for the monorail at Epcot.

Note: From the corner of the Beach Club that's closest to Epcot, it's 0.75 miles to walk from there, through Epcot to the Epcot monorail station.
