Go Pro Handler

Hello all!
Purchased a Go Pro for my husband for his birthday and we plan to use it on our upcoming WDW trip (leave Thursday, wahoo!). I know selfie sticks are banned, however I wasn't sure about the Go Pro "handler" which is their handgrip option. It's a stick that holds the Go Pro but it is only 6 inches/handholding size. Anyone have any feedback/experience?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Starting today “selfie sticks” are banned from Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort theme parks. Those of us who enjoy taking photographs and video at Disneyland and Walt Disney World have wondered what this means for other tripod or mono-pod type camera items. Disney will still be allowing many of these items in, but there are some exceptions:

  • Tripods that can be folded and stored in a reasonable size bag are allowed. Large tripods are not.
  • Extendable camera monopods are allowed.
  • GoPro brand name body and head harnesses are allowed.
  • Short, brand name GoPro handles are allowed.
  • Brand name or similar style GRIP & SHOOT handles are also allowed.
  • GoPro 3-way or similar style extending handles are not allowed.
  • Selfie sticks of any kind are not allowed.

Thank you so much. Great summary, hadn't found this list. Appreciate the help!

Don't take that list as being accurate. There have been numerous cases of people not be allowed Go Pro grips and monopods.
See this http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/monopods-possibly-banned-under-the-no-selfie-stick-rule.906735/ for a recent case.

The exact wording of the rule is "Handheld camera / cell phone extension poles, such as selfie sticks, are prohibited."

It then depends on how the individual security guard who is examining your bag applies that rule to your camera support. You can see from the wording that it is very open to interpretation. The only type of camera support that I have seen no issues reported with so far is a tripod.

Good luck, but be prepared for it not to be admitted.

My trip I took a Freiyu G4 GoPro gimbal which looks similar to a gopro stick. As long as it doesn't extend you should be ok. As long as it doesn't extend you should be fine. At bag check or on rides I was asked if it extended and when I showed that it didn't then they let me through.

While we're on the subject, I wanted to chime in with some friendly etiquette tips. GoPros are great -- as long as the person in front of you isn't raising theirs directly into your field of vision as you attempt to watch a show or take in an attraction! (I'm not suggesting for a moment that the OP has any intention of doing so, however.) This link is to an article about selfie sticks, but the same advice applies to "extension rods" of any length (minds out of the gutter, now!):
