Gluten allergy?

Hi everyone,

My sister may be joining us during our trip in August. I have 10 ADR's already made (mostly character meals). She has a gluten allergy. If I'm able to add her to my ADR's, do I just let them know she has the allergy? What sort of accommodations do they provide? Will she enjoy herself? This will be her first time at Disney. She told me that she would skip the meals, but I think that is part of the experience.

Thanks!

Each restaurant will give you help on selecting items that can accommodate nearly any allergy. There will be no problem. Let them know when you check in.

As a former restaurant manager, I can tell you that Disney was at the forefront of developing a system for people with Celiac Disease or Gluten issues. Many restaurants have copied the steps that Disney implemented to make sure they are providing safe service to guests. At the table service meals, when you notify your server, a Chef will come out to make sure that you are comfortable and provide you with options that will meet your dietary needs, as well as they make all meals for those people with different utensils and cookware as well as they pull all the ingredients from a separate area to make sure that there is no cross contamination. Your sister should have absolutely no issues and shouldn't be afraid to order.

My wife has celiac sprue and has been gluten free for over 15 years. One of the things that made us such huge fans of WDW was their ability to accommodate her gluten free diet. Over the past five years, they have made it even easier ! Many foods are gluten free as is. This includes most of the specialty items at many of the signatures. When it comes to gluten free dining and dessert, WDW does things right. Have fun.

The accomodations that Disney makes are one of the reasons my son and I love Disney so much. We both are gluten free and never have a disappointing meal at Disney...in fact we've had times that my daughter is jealous of the cool replacement options that my son gets for some meals.

Thanks everyone!! She is booked and I was able to add her to all my ADR's (including BOG!) and noted her allergy.
