Glasses vs waterparks

Hi, I’ve just thought of another silly question. What do all you glasses wearers do at the waterparks as presumably you cannot wear glasses/goggles on the slides?

I do. My glasses are very form-fitting and don't come off easily unless I'm taking them off. I've never had any problems.

If you need your glasses to see enough to function, then a neck strap that's tight/stretchy is probably a good investment.

You can wear a strap.

And put one on your glasses, too.

I too never had a problem... until I did.

We have visited both WDW water parks many times and many others without problem. But last time at Typhoon Lagoon on one of the Storm Slides(don't remember which), when I entered the pool, I kind of flipped backwards and my transition eye/sunglasses fell to the bottom. I tried to get them with my feet but the lifeguard understandably wanted me out since there were others coming down after me. I am blind without them and would be walking into people. They stopped the traffic on that slide and actually called in a diver to retrieve them from the bottom. Lucky for me this time... but next time we visit a water park, I will have the strap to secure them.

Some year ago, I bought Corrective Optical Swim Goggles with (close enough) strength (I'm near sighted). If you know your eye prescription, you pick a corrective diopter number, close to your own prescription. These were also reasonably priced.

Vision isn't perfect with them, but I can walk around the parks and go on water slides, etc. and be able to see reasonably well. They also have UVA/UVB protection. Some have tinted lenses and some even have mirror lenses for very strong sunlight conditions. (Note: I have to occasionally add a few drops of water inside the goggle lens to keep it from fogging.)

You may be able to find these goggles in larger sporting goods stores (particularly ones that cater to swim teams, etc.), and these can also be ordered online. I know that TYR is one of the brands, but there are quite a few others out there now. I ordered mine online.

I have held them in my hand as I went down slides or given them to my wife. Once the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon knocked off brand new, 250 dollar pair of glasses. I couldn't find them, but a lifeguard did. Disney is the best!

I bring someone with me and walk right next to them. I guess also if you have sports glasses with the straps you don't have to worry. I almost lost one pair a couple years ago so I don't wear them in the park.
