Gingerbread Houses

The big one is at the Grand Floridian, as Nemo said. There is also usually a gingerbread carousel at the Boardwalk and an additional gingerbread house at the American Adventure in Epcot.

It might be a little early for them, though some might be in the process of being constructed. Official opening of Holiday decorations is the day after Thanksgiving.

The one at the Grand Floridian is a sight to see but I have to admit that I was very disappointed that it was a shop. When I went to see it, it was so overcrowded with people waiting to buy gingerbread and hot chocolate that it took away from the beauty of it.

Besides, I don't know why everyone was standing in line, they could have just broke a piece off

When you visit a hotel with a gingerbread house in the lobby, do you actually smell the gingerbread? I was wondering if the smell wears off the longer they are out there in the open lobby.

The Gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian is going up on Tueday the 13th, the Beach Club's carousel is going up on Wednesday the 14th, and the American Adventure's house is in the process of going up now (the framework that the gingerbread is attached to is already in place).

Random question about the gingerbread houses...a friend of mine is in culinary school and is competing in a gingerbread contest and upon entering the contest has learned that there are relatively no books concerning gingerbread house making (from a professional standpoint) and many of them actually talk about using graham crackers instead of actual gingerbread. I told her about the gingerbread houses and the like at WDW and told her I would do a search for some possible books on the subject. I haven't found any yet, but I thought I would come to the mother board and see if anyone here has ever seen anything or heard of anything.
Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!:)

You definitely smell gingerbread. I was there last year Dec 28-Jan 3...and I went and saw the one at the Grand Floridian at like 10pm one night. You walk into the lobby and all you smell is the gingerbread, it is amazing. The good thing about going late is there was no crowd there at all and my family and myself were able to get real close and take plenty of pictures!

All Deluxe resorts have Gingerbread houses.

I believe it is limited to Deluxe though. Mods/Value don't have them. I'm not sure about the DVC resorts.

I don't recall gingerbread houses at Wilderness Lodge or Poly.

The Wilderness Lodge used to do a wonderful gingerbread display with a train. I don't know why they stopped. And you never know, since each resort is run separately what they'll do. I promised someone that I'd pick up the Christmas resort pins for them next week (the day they come out), so I am hoping the displays and such will be up so I can get pics as I'm going to the various hotels.

This past week was the first time I actually saw the Gingerbread house at the GF going up.
