You can get the regular gift cards at any Disney Store to use in WDW. Yup, they do make great stocking stuffers...especially for little ones!
Very few stores are still carrying Disney dollars. I went to the Disney Outlet last weekend and the manager said that they will be starting a new system after the New Year that will do away with them altogether. He hadn't any info. to give on the new system. He "thinks" it will be a different card for different occasions with many characters to choose from to make it a bit more personalized. This outlet actually still carries Disney dollars so I did purchase a bunch to keep.
They can be used at WDW merchandise and food loacations, the probelm being is that WDW cannot check the balance on the card, so it will be declined if your even $0.01 over. One thing you DON'T want to do is get one of those Visa/Mastercard debit gift cards.
They can not be used at any location at WDW.

Those cards cannot be used to book rooms, as is the policy set forth by Visa/MasterCard.
They were simply hitting the wrong key. It should be run as a credit card NOT a gift card. And you are allowed to charge specific amounts to certain cards, you just have to know what order to hit the keys in, it's possible...I worked Merchandise for a year on Main Street, I did it all the time. You can ask for a manager, because they should know how to do it if the Cash register host/hostess doesn't.We tried at 4 different locations this year. We new the card was for $30.00. 2 different times were at Disney resturant (California Grill and Narcossee's) and and two different stores (Mouse Gears and Wilderness Lodge Merchantile.)
All of them told us they could not charge specific amounts on a different cards. It was all or nothing.
Please let me know what I should have said or tried differently. I had had the card since Christmas, and it was only for $30 but we often recieved them and it's always a nice way to have something a liittle extra.
thanks for the help.

Now as for the dining, that's kinda wierd to me, cause it's the same computer system, but there's some major differances in the way it's programmed, so I can't speak for that.
I'll also put a plug in for the Disneyland website (not the WDW website). You can order about 12 different designs through their ticket ordering page. They rotate through some of the seasonal designs, so you should be able to get a couple Christmas designs soon.

They come with free 2-day shipping. You're limited to set $25, $50 or $100 amounts, but you can always buy a $25 card and add more money at your local Disney Store.
