Gift Card Balances

We are currently accumulating Disney gift cards for our trip. I am planning on giving everyone their personal spending/souvenir money on their own gift card.

Does the card's remaining balance show up on the receipt after a purchase or does the user have to keep track of the balance themselves? I know there is a number to call to get your balance, but I was just wondering if there is a more convenient way.

If the receipt doesn't show the balance, I'm thinking of just putting a small, plain white sticker on the front of the card, where the user can track their balance.

It shows up on the receipt and i also carry a sharpie marker mini and write the balance on the gift card.

Write your card #s down! If one gets lost you can call in, have the funds for the lost card frozen, then transfer them to a new card.

The receipt always shows the balance. Also, there is an iPhone app that you can use to track your balances. I used it extensively this past trip; worked very well. The app will allow you to give each card a name; I then put that name on the back of the card with a sharpie.
