Hey everyone. I'm trying to work on a 20K project but, I'm having a little trouble. I wanna take an old photo of 20K in it's glory and overlap it onto an image of the destruction. Kind of a then and now photo. I want it to have kind of a ghostly image, as if the original ride still lives on in the lagoon. I'm working with Adobe Photoshop 7 and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much guys!

I'm not sure if this is the best way, but I'd put each photo in it's own layer, then adjust the alpha (transparency) level of the layer until you get the effect you want.

So make sure your images are of the same size, and same angle (or similar), then open the demolished one. Create a new layer on it, paste the "old" image onto this layer, and pull down it's alpha level to, I'd guess, between 50% and 75%.

Hope that helps (or sends you in the right direction)

Dolby`s idea is good, bu if you just want a still image, I`d do what ogryn said - I`ve done similar images before with `shop7 and it works well. BTW, hi guys!

Another option here...

First open up your destruction picture. Leave it as-is. Create a new layer.

Now open up your "there in all its glory" picture. Go to Image>Mode>Grayscale. It may ask you if you want to flatten everything. Sure -- why not. Select all, then copy. Close out this image (do NOT save your changes).

Paste the black-and-white image into the new layer from the destruction picture.

Now, on your layer menu, you'll see a dropbox that says "normal." Try some of the other options, like "multiply," "hard light," "soft light," "luminosity," etc. Play around with that and transparency, and you may get some neat ghostly results.

Let us see what you come up with!

I followed all the directions and couldn't do it. I could either see one image or the other. I just started with PS 7 & and I stink at it. My teacher isn't all that good at teaching it either. My project this week is blending. I decided to use all 4 park weenies. I'll link it for y'all to see. Keep in mind I've been working with PS 7 for like 2 weeks now. Thank you for your help everyone.
