When my son was a baby and he'd wake in the night, I'd go in to rock him and sometimes he'd be staring at the wall, just over my shoulder and giggling. If there were some kind of spirits in that house, they had to have been good.

Children have a wonderful sense of ghosts. ( So do birds ^ boo talks to them all the time lol.) For some reason, children see them most often. Most likely, it was the ghost of someone older trying to entertain the child or someone who just has a love for kids.

Everybody has some pretty interesting stories! I'll give my ghost partner a holler and get some information for everybody if you are interested. Just PM me your email address or send me an email. (my address is in my signature)

I can recall two ghost stories that I have. As stated earlier, when children are younger they have a better sense for them. My first experience ever was when I was about 8-10. Not sure exactly what age but in between there. My family is very religious and we love to go to church. Now, I don't want to bring Christianity into this and I don't want to start anything of it, but here it goes. My first "ghost" was that of the Virgin Mary. I woke up once in the middle of the night from what I can only guess was a nightmare and found her just floating there. I could've sworn the forrest next to my house had Indian Burial grounds on it or something but it would freak me out at night. So I hav a feeling that she was there looking over me letting me know everything was alright. I still remember to this day what she looked like exactly and where she was...all of that.

My second experience happened when I was probably 10 and just moved into a "new" house, it was new to us because we just moved into it. There's a cemetary down the road from the house that has people that died in the early 1800's in there, so it's old. There is also a babysitter of mine from when I lived in Switzerland buried there (he died mountain climbing with his father, who got injured, in the Swiss Alps). My brothers and I would go and see him a couple times a week just to sit there and remember our times in Switzerland. As old as the cemetary was and the stories we heard about it, we knew it was just a matter of time. Of course, coming home one night, there he was. I looked over into the cemetary and say a dark shadow leaning against one of the tall pine trees. It almost looked like one of those things people buy to put in their yards (the guy with the cowboy hat looking down leaning against a tree). So I went on a walk right after we got home and took my flashlight with me and nothing. It was a cold night and dew was on the ground. So I checked to see if the gates were open but still nothing. There were no footprints, which would have been visible in the grass.

That got me to believe after those two and I'll never forget them either.

Hey Boo, do you listen to Q94? The morning show was in a haunted house this morning broadcasting and it was freaky. They were broadcasting via telephone that was hardwired into the house, anyway, one of thier producers walked in wearing a dress, they were laughing their ______ off since the ghost seen there always wears a dress when seen, so they scared some people, soon after that they did their "Hollywood Report" and halfway through the sound goes out, all you hear was the background music that's playing at the radio station. They come back on a while latter saying that some wierd stuff has been happpening, and that they found the telephone plug out of the wall. Freaky eh? That's not all, when the producer was putting on the dress she saw the phone cord moving and thought it was the people in the room trying to fudge around with it. Turns out nobody was even close to it. About 15 minutes latter the phone goes out again...

I also had one wierd experence in my grandparent's house. My grandmother passed away this past Feb. and we were staying in their house to watch over my grandfather. Anyway, it was late and I was getting some water, and I distinctly felt something pass behind me. I looked and nobody was there. I get some freaky feelings, but trust me, I knew what this was.

My story starts with an angel but moves on to spirits. . .

When I was 17 I was in a really bad car accident. My friend and I were trapped in truck and scared out of our minds. It was a rural area and neither of us could go get help as we were pinned inside. We were in shock and not really realizing how badly we were hurt. Anywho, this man, David, with light bornw hari a great tan and only wearing navy clue shorts (I was a teenage girl who notices such things), comes up to the truck and keeps us company, telling us help is on the way. . . He brought us blankets and asked all kinds of questions, seeming to keep our minds off our injuries. Our friend Brad showed up and went to call 911 and David stays with us. Brad states he never saw or talked to David.

The police and fire depts show up a short time later and work on cutting us out the truck. During that time, David disappears and no one else saw him, even though both my friend and I and the other two people in the accident with us also saw and talked to him. He told us that he lived in the area and just came to stay with us "until help could come". I lived a half mile from the accident site and never met ths man prior to the accident. After we were on the mend, all of us in the accident went back to that corner and asked all the people that lived near if they knew David but no one did.

We were never able to return the blankets that he gave us to keep warm while waiting for emergency personnel. . . we just wrote it off to some weird person we all imagined or someone who was visiting from out of town. That is, until the same friend and I almost hit a huge deer a few months later and we saw the same man ride by on a biciyle, at night, on a road with few streetlights. He smiled at us and waved. We quickly turned the car around buut he was gone. . .

Since that time, one four occassions, I saw people cross the road right in front the car I am driving and then a few days later I'll read in the paper that someone has died on that street.

Also, my parents neighbors had a really bad housefire a few years ago and their little boy died inside. These neighbors are like family to us. It was a pretty hard time for us all. The little boy reeally liked the color green and he would always come over to spend time with my mom in her kitchen watching the humming birds at her fuscia plant. The kitchen window where the plant was faced the burned house. In the weeks after the fire, while the burned house was being investigated for the cause of the fire and the insurance company was taking it's time before allowing it to be torn down, my mom had a visitor at her fuscia plant. . . A little green hummingbird would come to her fuscia plant about the same time of day the little boy came to visit. It came for a few weeks and them after the house was torn down, it never came back again. There had never been a green hummingbird before that time or since.

There are a few other times when I have had encounters with spirits and I am thankful that I have not had any dark spirits around me of which I am aware.

I love this thread! It rocks, keep the stories coming!

I was there the other morning but didn't talk. Bobby the head ghost hunter talked the whole time. He got me started. They were in a bed and breakfast that I've already been to. Its the Wrexham Hall in Chesterfield. The VA ghost hunters have no idea what they are doing. They have never gotten a picture or video of even an orb much less a ghost. They want to find out so bad what we are eventually going to do once funding becomes available that they are doing everything they can to upstage us but they can't. I've already gotten more than they ever will and I've only done it for 6 months. We did a radio show on Q94 last Thursday and Bobby did WRVA (morning talk radio 1140am<--not time) this morning

Hi Boo's Mom!

Why tell a bunch of stories when instead you could become a millionaire:

James Randi Educational Foundation

The Foundation is committed to providing reliable information about paranormal claims. It both supports and conducts original research into such claims.

At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The prize is in the form of negotiable bonds held in a special investment account. The JREF does not involve itself in the testing procedure, other than helping to design the protocol and approving the conditions under which a test will take place. All tests are designed with the participation and approval of the applicant. In most cases, the applicant will be asked to perform a relatively simple preliminary test of the claim, which if successful, will be followed by the formal test. Preliminary tests are usually conducted by associates of the JREF at the site where the applicant lives. Upon success in the preliminary testing process, the "applicant" becomes a "claimant."

To date, no one has ever passed the preliminary tests. Click here to see the application.

Have any of you seen the trailer for White Noise? It's based around something called Electronic Voicing Phenomina, which is how the dead can communicate with the living through electronic devices.

Boo, is EVP real? If it is then I'm NOT seeing this movie, but if it isn't I'll be slightly more inclined.

I've never used one but my head ghost hunter guy has. I'm not sure how to comment on it since I've never had one used in my presense. I'm trying to get some good ghost information from head the ghost hunter. I'll post it here if I can get it.

I saw that trailer last night. I agree, if it's real I don't want to see it. Knowing I could commuicate with the dead would drive me literally insane. I'd be trying to get a hold of my dad and ex boyfriend all the time and thinking every little sound was them. I had crazy goosebumps watching that trailer last night.

Awesome!! We were reviewing the tape we recorded with the camcorder last night and we got a voice on it!! we didn't use an EVP but a regular camcorder. Its a man's voice trying to tell us something. He sounds distressed. He says "All I want" and the camera cuts off. Now I do know that you can catch a voice on camera!! yay :sohappy: I'm so excited because thats definately an improvement from pictures and film. Now we have a voice yay

I just watched the trailer for White Noise and I am definately seeing it! Call me nuts :hammer: but that looks very interesting! We are still trying to figure out who the voice belongs too that we got on tape but so far, no good leads.

Some experiences I've had with ghosts include

1. A ghost playing with my hair at 3 Mile Lock (old pump house that supplied water to Richmond years ago). photo showed orb parting my hair

2. Ghost sitting on my bed one night moving the covers off of my feet

3. Ghost playing with my feet.

4. Saw the ghost of a man staring at the photo of Jesus in the hallway.

5. Saw the ghost of a woman in a long dress walk into the back room. You could clearly see the dress sweeping the floor (think dress like Elizabeth Swan wore in POTC)

6. Caught ghosts on film numerous times. Plenty of pictures taken with ghosts in them

7. Boo talks to ghosts all the time. He has someone who likes to hang around his cage. Caught it on camera before but cannot tell if it was man or woman. (It better not scare/hurt him or I'll have to kick some ghost butt!)

8. Noel would not go into the kitchen last night or would run out if we carried her in there to drink. Sister got out the video camera and caught a ghost walk by her.

9. Had a ghost stand behind me when I was washing dishes one time. I was the only one in the house. I saw my shadow and then a bigger shadow stand behind me.

10. Sister woke up one night and saw a man walk from the back room into the bathroom and back out. Saw the same woman I saw (and I never told her about her, the lady with the long dress..) standing in the hallway at that same time waving at her. My sister told her to leave her alone but she kept waving. My sis said "God is going to get you" and she continued waving and then went into the front bedroom.

11. I was having terrible headaches one night and my dad woke up to see a green light bouncing on me. I told him it was my guardian angel trying to make me feel better. Never really found out what it was.

Just saw this in one of our local weekly newspapers...The PhotoNews

Ghostbusters sought for haunted lodge

By Genevieve Hill

MONROE-At about four o'clock on a brisk, fall afternoon two years ago, Michael Weiss and Claude Horstmann were discussing Masonic history at a dining room table in the Cornerstone Lodge #711 F & AM on Stage Road when the unexplainable happened.

Weiss sat facing Horstmann. Just off to the right, in his peripheral vision, he could see the archway to the Masonic Historical Society's library.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, appeared the silhouette of a tall man gliding past the archway.

Brother Weiss bolted from his chair as if struck by lightning.

"What's the matter?" asked Horstmann, president of the Cornerstone Masonic Historical Society.

He could see that "Michael was visibly shaken" and wondered what could have caused him to leave his chair and their conversation so suddenly.

"We're not alone," Weiss responded, keeping his eyes glued on the archway.

Horstmann had not seen or heard anything. But he went to the door to look outside.

There was no sign of anyone, just the breeze on the horizon which sailed across his face.

They were alone.

The ghostly tall man

So why had Weiss looked so amazed? Maybe someone was having fun at their expense. Maybe Weiss' mind was playing tricks on him.

Well, no one was playing tricks and his mind was fine. He definitely saw something, but exactly what he did not know. Could it have been an apparition? A lost soul? A ghost? Weiss didn't get a good look, for it had vanished just as quickly as it had appeared.

Weiss chuckled as he recently recounted what happened, with as hint of apprehension in his voice.

"It was the shadow of a tall man and it just walked by, on the other side of the archway, and disappeared into the wall. It did not turn toward me and I really can't give any further description."

Although this encounter only lasted about two seconds, it was the first of several mystifying incidents. Within a three-month period during this same time, doors opened in front of him, without "human" assistance, and another silhouette slithered by him as he read.

"It gave me goose bumps."

At least other three people have seen the "tall man" of the Cornerstone Lodge.

Robert W. Adams, Master of Cornerstone Lodge, is one of them. He recounts what he saw while rehearsing a play. "I saw a tall man with a dark coat and long hair. It was possibly a wig," he said.

Horstmann, a self-proclaimed skeptic, neer saw the silhouette while seated across from Weiss, but does not doubt him.

"I have been in the house, alone, and heard loud footsteps coming up the stairs. There was no one in the house except me," he said.

Several others have also experienced these unexplained footsteps.

"I am not aware of anyone actually dying in the house, so I don't know who this man might be," he said.

Three knocks

Other occurrences were just as chilling, but did not include the "tall man."

The Junior and Senior Masters of Ceremony, along with two new Mason candidates, were changing into their Masonic regalia in one of the bedrooms upstairs. According to Horstmann, they complained that the room became inexplicably icy cold. To date, this, too, remains a mystery.

Brother Leo Laurence, a journalist currently residing in California, experienced several incidents during a visit just last month back to the lodge in Monroe.

In a telephone interview and through an e-mail exchange with The Photo News, he wrote:

"I was told on arrival that the building might be haunted.... I stayed in a large bedroom on the second floor.... On my second night, at exactly 3:20 a.m., I heard three, distinct, loud knocks, like someone knocking firmly on a door. (Three knocks on a door are especially symbolic in the Masonic ritual.) Instantly I was half-awake. But, in my sleepy state I thought it must be something that fell in an adjoining room. The sound clearly came from behind the head of the bed.

"Suddenly I sat up, wide-awake because I realized there was no room behind the bed. I was puzzled. I was convinced the three knocks were of human origin, and not caused by some rat or other animal.

"But, how?

"I looked out the window. The nearest tree was a good distance away. There was only a gentle breeze and no branches were hitting the side of the very old house.

Running water

"Just before going to bed, I had carefully gone through all the many rooms, closed all the doors and turned off every light. While trying to comprehend the knocking I had just heard, I also noticed the sound of running water coming from the adjoining bathroom. The cold water faucet had been turned on. I walked from the bathroom onto the second floor landing to try to get my senses back. But, when I looked up to the third floor (used by Masons from 1813 to the 1820s as their secret lodge room), I noticed the lights had been turned on.

"Nothing happened for several more days. One late evening I was using the washbasin in the bathroom adjacent to the bedroom. Everything was quiet in the building.

"Suddenly, I heard two knocks on the large window to my left, a few feet away. I found nothing.

"I called a knowledgeable authority in California to report on my ghostly experiences. I was told that I had probably experienced paranormal communications from not one, but three, spirits.

"I was assured that I wasn't in danger. ‘They are being playful with you.'"

Ghostbusters wanted

Horstmann remains skeptical.

"Brother Leo called a paranormal group out in California and was told to open the doors and windows so the spirits could go through them freely," he said.

The past Master of the lodge, Douglas MacKenzie, has been a member for 38 years, but has never experienced anything he would consider mystifying. He, too, is cynical when it comes to what others have encountered. "I've never seen or heard anything out of the ordinary."

The Cornerstone Lodge meets in what used to be McGarrah Inn. This historic building, located at 300 Stage Road, was originally owned by John McGarrah and dates back to the early nineteenth century.

"We would like to see someone come in, like they do on that ghostbusters program on television, and tell us what's going on in this house," Horstmann said.

I believe in the spirits of people living on after they have passed away, but I don't think that they do evil or mean things to people like lots of people say they do. Apparently, my second cousin's ghost haunts his former favorite bar, he's even been in the newspaper for it! :D

ive had a few run in with ghosts or spooky things heres one i love

My first one was when i was 16 and i worked for a local bar lifting glasses. Well during the 1800's this bar was a local place for ladies of the night and becuase of this the rooms above the bar were rented out to these women for there own use. there was bar next to the room were cilents could wait before seeing these women but on more on than once occasion fights were meant to break and most lead to a death well anyway to get back on track. the upstairs is now a lounge/wine bar and one night while locking up the owner sent me up stairs to see if anyone was about while he finished of cleaning the down stairs. So i go up and see a man sitting at the end of the bar, i ask him why he was still and that we were closed etc... when the man deicded not to leave i went down stairs to get the owner on are return we found no man just a glass he was drinking from. Now people tell me that he could have just been a drunk and all but all the dorrs were locked and there would have been no were for him to go. This man has been seen on more than one ocassion and in some cases has even talked to the workers or person asking him questions saying stuff like this is the best time to have drink.

If anyone wants to know and ghsost stories about belfast or ireland just ask i know most of them i also know a very funny one about grave robbers

I've had an experience or two...I grew up one door down from a slave graveyard and I used to live with my brother whose house was unusual: both were haunted hardcore.

Around early September if you go outside my mother and father's house you can hear old negro spirituals being sung. It's kind of eerie. When my brother lived there he saw an African-American man at his window dressed in pre-Civil War clothing in the snow. When he and my father went outside to investigate there were no footprints in the snow whatsoever.

At my brother's house, I was sleeping early one morning (around 2 or 3 am). When I woke there was this figure bending over me. Sorta like it was tending to me if I were sick. I told it to go leave me alone I was trying to sleep. It did, but that wasn't the last time I saw him. I took to calling him 'Bob.' Neither my brother nor myself live there now and sometimes I wonder if Bob is still there.
