Ghirardelli Re-Opening?

It wasn't open last night, but I wasn't over there today.
Checked with my source and he's not entirely sure as to why either. he told me straight from the architect's mouth that it would be opened by Tuesday morning. I found out, as I was leaveing today, that they still weren't opened. haven't had a chance to talk to him about it yet.

ok, after celebrating my birthday and such, it seems that what's holding back the opening is a ton of "technical difficulties". such as:
-health inspector demnded and extra handwashing sink.
-water inspector or something said there needed to be more drains in the floor
so, basically, they've had to deal with people adding in things which meant other items had to be redone to accomodate the inspections corrections and then having to wait for inspectors to return to finalize the opening basically.

Well those two reasons failed on the last Florida Food Regulation Inspection. :zipit:

thank goodness i live in the west suburbs in chicago, which makes giradelli a short car ride into the city. but trust me,i know, i love girdelli and would miss it if it was closed a long time. their milkshakes and sundaes are worth the drive and parking combined. Even when we are at disney i have to stop at girdelli. I actually stop there on our first day . Its been a tradition since i have no idea. But we take the bus from or boat ( depending on which disney hotel were staying at) and go there and have a sundae or milshake..then get shoping

I just talked to the guy at the front desk at the all star sports he said that it is open you just have to go through the back entrance.. So I figure there are 3 entrances. One for the chocolate, one for the soda fountain, and the side entrance for the soda fountain. I am about to go investigate as I want to take my girlfriend for some ice cream
Guy was wrong. the remodel is still going on and as i said shouldn't be open until monday, my source is impeccable.

Well, it didn't open yesterday as mentioned - both the Soda Fountain and the Store were closed last night. The walls were up around the Fountain side, and the store was stripped to its bare bones. Not even a free chocolate sample in sight!

I hope it opens soon so It will be open for my trip at the end of may. The best part is the ice cream!!!
*Shrugs* Unfortunately i didn't see my dad until this morning and really haven't gotten a chance to ask what's going on (last i talked to him was Saturday). As soon as I can get soem info i'll tell it here. I do know they're working (and in some cases OVER working) the construction guys to get it ready, but it could be th einspections that are holding it back. As for nothing on the walls, there is daily cleaning that needs to be done which may warrant some earlier closings.
