We stayed in a lagoon view room in Boca Chica last summer. It was very convenient having the pool right outside the door! Nightly turndown service was earlier than we would have liked (around 5 p.m.) but not a big deal. We used the monorail to get to MK and the boat to return. While we could see Wishes from our balcony, you can also watch the show from the boat dock.

Here are some room/lagoon view pics:

Have stayed twice at GF and once at the Villas. Both stays at GF were in Sago Cay with either a marina view or a lagoon view. Each time we lucked out and got a dormer room...our lagoon view was at the END of the building, so we really got a park view (okay, a view that was more bus depot, than park. But we could still see Space Mountain) rather than the monorail lagoon view.

I would ask for a dormer room. Can't remember if you can make that request when you check in online. If not, you know what to do...call. Unlike the other rooms at the GF, the dormer rooms have their own separate balconies, rather than one long balcony the length of the building with partitions. And I requested a king size bed, so we had more floor space than a queen room.

I prefer Sago Cay because it is far enough away from the pool to not hear the noise, but it is near the main building and all the restaurants, except Narcoossee's. I found that either walking down to the end of the building facing the park or the marina area (outside Gasparilla's)were the best places to watch the MK fireworks. My first stay was over Fourth of July and the special 360 degree fireworks viewed from the marina were amazing!

Thanks so much for the recommendations! Wasn't sure about a dormer room because I was concerned about the size of the balcony. But after hearing your thoughts, I think I would still be happy with that! So glad we picked this resort! :-)

Boca Chica is one of the best, especially "lagoon" view. We woke up every morning to the sounds of the boats, and watched the boats go by. We were on the 1st floor, and always had a "visitor"... a cute little lizard. Such a wonderful view of the Magic Kingdom and Contemporary.:D Have a magical time at the Grand!:joyfull:
