Getting worried - Yacht versus Beach Club

I have never stayed at the Four Seasons. Is it walking distance to any of the parks??
No, it is not near any park, but does provide transportation. It is located out past Fort Wilderness in the Golden Oak development.

When I checked your dates YC rooms started at $444 (did not find any at $350 so it looks like you got a good rate) and Four Seasons rooms started at $499, so a $55 difference. Worth $55 more per night at Four Seasons...in my opinion yes.
But anyway, not trying to argue with you, you were concerned about the YC room (which I have never been unhappy with, guess I have got lucky in room assignments) and I was just offering an alternative that, to me is very, very nice. In fact, to me is on a whole different level. The Beach Club is quite nice too and if you decide to switch to BC, hopefully you might get one of the refurbished rooms. Either way, have a good trip.
No worries, didn't take it as you were trying to argue. We are spending a week on the gulf coast before this so we will be chilled when we get there. Looking to more immerse into Disney which is why I am not looking to stay offsite. Opinions seem to say things are fine then you get the review like Hockey89 and I get worried. Not sure if the person is overly critical or there is more to it.

I stayed at YC for a few nights in December 2014 and thought it was looking rougher than a lot of the other choices. I didn't think it was in "bad" shape, but certainly not as good as a recently renovated room at beach club or boardwalk villas. The carpet and baseboards weren't in great shape. A few noticeable caulking issues around the tub. The windows in the hallway weren't looking very good. It's only something I notice because I'm a hotel geek. I don't think there's any logical reason to pick YC over BC if the price is within $30 a night. I love YC's theming and I look forward to going back, but the recently renovated rooms are just nicer. My GF didn't notice any of these things though. She's also a consultant who travels every week, basically lives in hotels, and will happily rant about how people who complain about disney deluxe resorts would off themselves if they paid more to stay in a 4 star hotel in a major city only to find out that it's in much much worse condition. So maybe you won't notice!

I get everyone talking about four seasons. Yes. it's fantastic. It's also offsite and extremely expensive. Generally, hotels that are extremely expensive with imperfect locations are really nice. But I don't think there's any more value to Four Seasons where I have a much nicer room and have to bus or drive everywhere than there is to paying less but being able to walk home from epcot or hollywood studios. It's the same argument you'll have at any destination. If a hotel with a worse location has more expensive, it's rooms are undoubtebly going to be nicer.

For some people, location is just worth more.

All I can say is my room looked old and dirty.... The fan was missing two blades, which is pretty pathetic for a room near 400 bucks. I would expect that at a run down motel....

Like I said, I am not saying that Yacht Club is worn down like a dirty old motel....it is FAR superior than that. However, if I were spending 250/night+ for a room, the current Yacht rooms are not worth that price (to me). I would use that money towards a stay at Beach Club or BoardWalk, both which have very nice new fixtures, bathrooms, furniture, and paint.

Thank you for all your opinions. I also reached out to Amy at Kingdom Konsultants and she felt that switching to the BC was a good idea. We made the change a few minutes ago.

That sounds great! Beach Club is really very nice and very fresh.
Hang out on the Yacht side. The lobby bar, Ale & Compass, is a great place to hang in the evening when it's dark outside and the lobby lights are on- very elegant. And Crews Cup Lounge, adjacent to Yachtsman Steakhouse, is a terrific place for a quality lunch or dinner and drinks....and best part is that it is walk in only- no reservations!

I really wish I could recommend the Yacht like I used to....but the difference in room quality was just too much.

Have a great

We are booked at the Yacht Club from 12/2 thru 12/9 but based on the post here and a few other forums, I am second guessing my choice. I am wondering if the Beach Club would be a better choice because of the renovated rooms.

It is just me and my wife - in our 40's. Would love to hear some detailed opinions.
Don't worry, be happy! You're going to WDW!

I wouldn't exactly call Golden Oaks offsite.

We are in the process of deciding where to stay for our trip in 2017 (November), we had originally decided on the YC after our 2014 stay but I have recently read some pretty awful reviews of the rooms & public areas on this & another forum as well as Trip Advisor.
We have decided to review our options before booking & will be looking at the BW because we love that area but also The Contemporary & The Poly because we are keen to try them out.

Yacht Club rooms should be finished on the 5th floor by THIS November 2016, so I would imagine that at least floors 4 and 3 should be completed by next November! I have been in touch with management over there, who do have a tentative schedule to look at.

Great choice to switch. With the current state of the respective rooms, BC over YC is an absolute no brainer.

As for the Four Seasons, it is most definitely second to none in terms of quality. It has basically no "Disney feel" to it though. To me it was exactly the same as the Beverly Hills Four Season.

We would have loved to stay at the Poly but the difference in price was huge.

That is good news, thanks for letting me know.
