Getting worried - Yacht versus Beach Club

We are booked at the Yacht Club from 12/2 thru 12/9 but based on the post here and a few other forums, I am second guessing my choice. I am wondering if the Beach Club would be a better choice because of the renovated rooms.

It is just me and my wife - in our 40's. Would love to hear some detailed opinions.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
That's a pure personal preference there is nothing wrong with the current Yacht Club rooms and is still a wonderful Deluxe property. If you want to change that is up to you if you really want a newly refurbished room. You can't go wrong with either. Our personal fave of the Boardwalk area resorts is The Boardwalk but they all are great choices. It's always just me and the hubby (mid-late 30's) as well. :)

I don't really want to switch but don't want to spend a fortune for a run down room either.

Where did you get the idea the Yacht Club is run down? If you are that concerned it is not deluxe enough, give the Four Seasons a try. It is incredible. Pricey, but probably the nicest place I have ever been.

I have no interest in staying off property, I am far from A Disney newbie - this will be my 30th trip. I just have never stayed at the Yacht Club. If you take a moment and read some of the post around the comparison of the two, it is pretty easy to tell where my concerns come from.

We just returned from a trip and stayed at The Beach Club. I requested a king room with a full balcony, water view and we were given room 4565.....beautiful, quiet and a short walk to Epcot. That is the reason we chose The Beach Club over the Yacht Club.....proximity to Epcot and the refurbished rooms. The rooms are nicely redone with a clean feel. Mousekeeping was wonderful! The mattress on the bed was more comfortable than I have ever slept on in Disney. Our room overlooked the water (not the pool) and the volleyball court. It was so quiet that we thought we were the only quests in the hotel. I hope this helps with your decision. :cat:

I can only report as to what I know from vacation experience. Yacht Club has been our favorite Resort since 2004....and we have stayed at numerous Disney Resorts. Staying at the other Resorts, that have had refurbs, enabled comparisons to Yacht's rooms.

Yes, the Yacht rooms are nice. But on our last Yacht trip, our room showed so much wear and tear. Dinged walls and chipped corners. Dirty, old style wall paper. Very worn carpets, and old furnishings that don't have that new style so many other Resorts currently have. The corridors have chipped walls, dented base boards, and a funky smell the farther you walk from the lobby. We heard BC was under refurb so we asked to see a room and WOW, the differences were striking, as they should be for brand new rooms. The common areas were brand spanking new, and the corridors looked great.

Since 2014, we stay elsewhere, but we always return to Yacht for food offerings. I always ask front desk about room refurb starting dates, and, just so you know, the front desk agrees the rooms are in poor shape. And there still is not a start date.

Maybe because it is your first stay you would not notice the wear and tear and old furnishings because they will be new to you. But I know I would not pay a discounted rate for the quality of the rooms when I can get so much nicer at Beach or BoardWalk, and still be in the same area.

Good luck. Hope you have a great trip wherever you stay.

We stayed at the Yacht Club this past October and thought the room was terrific- very cheerful and full of character, and nothing dirty or worn out. We got a kick out of the over-the-top nautical themeing and color scheme.
That same trip, we also stayed in a post-renovation Boardwalk room, which should be in the same class as all post-renovation Yacht/Beach/Boardwalk rooms. Maybe it was just our taste, but it was boring and disappointing after the Yacht club room, even if everything in there was technically newer.

I honestly have no idea why people are so excited about the post-renovation Beach Club rooms- all they've done is made them sterile and boring.

We stayed at the YC in October and it was awesome. It is in no way run-down and it is a beautiful hotel. It is our favorite and we have stayed at almost all of them.

We were there last year and the room was run down. The fan on the ceiling was missing blades. It just looked tired and old... We had stayed at the beach club the year before it was in much better shape.... Night and day

Well the four seasons is on Disney Property and has services to the parks.... And yes, the rooms are a 10000 times nicer.

Yeah, but maybe only 9,999 times nicer. The Villas at Grand Cypress are very, very nice too, but they are off property by a few dozen yards or so, so won't be considered by OP. Never understood that, but if it makes OP happy that's OK by me.
We like onsite and will be onsite for a week soon, but will consider and do stay offsite at least once per year.

Yes, and the pool complex rivals or bests Stormalong Bay, and we love Stormalong Bay, especially the sand bottom section.

Did you guys happen to notice the price difference between the 2. $350 for YC and $579 for Four Seasons
Well yeah.... But what I got at the Four Seasons for the money was a lot more than I got for my money at YC. Two broken fan blades... Dirty Carpet.... Just dated beyond words right now.

When I checked your dates YC rooms started at $444 (did not find any at $350 so it looks like you got a good rate) and Four Seasons rooms started at $499, so a $55 difference. Worth $55 more per night at Four Seasons...in my opinion yes.
But anyway, not trying to argue with you, you were concerned about the YC room (which I have never been unhappy with, guess I have got lucky in room assignments) and I was just offering an alternative that, to me is very, very nice. In fact, to me is on a whole different level. The Beach Club is quite nice too and if you decide to switch to BC, hopefully you might get one of the refurbished rooms. Either way, have a good trip.
