Getting to the Hess station

A few questions about the Hess station on Disney property:

If staying in a Disney resort, is there available transportation to get there and back? If so, which bus would you be looking for?

I imagine the price for snacks and things for your room in the resort itself will be fairly overpriced. How do the prices compare for the same types of things purchased at the Hess station?

Can I get beer & alcohol there for my room?:D

I know everyone has only great things to say about Garden Grocer, but looking through their website, they don't seem very reasonably priced to me. I know everyone has their own perception of "reasonable". I also understand having something delivered is more convenient, but taking an hour or so out of my vacation to have my creature comforts in my room isn't a real big deal to me.

Do you know if they allow alcohol to be transported on Disney Transportation? That would be my only concern.

Honestly, I actually never thought about that. True, a bottle of wine or something could be carried discreetly in a bag, but certainly nothing bigger. You bring up a good point. Guess I will just go with my original thought of taking a taxi to Walmart, stock up on snacks, and adult beverages when I get there and be done with it. Seems like less hassle. Thanks all for your ideas and suggestions.

gees...

the closest Walmart is miles away.. you have to remember just how far it is off the interstate to the parks and the hotels themselves. plus it maybe over $50 if you need them to wait.. you are almost better off renting a car for a day.. and most will deliver the cars to you.. especially on base and give you a ride back.. I don't believe using a taxi is good sense financially.. to the Hess store.. yes.. to Walmart.. uh no...

Yeah, this was my original thought, except I was thinking of going to the closest walmart. Just looking at all the options and trying to weigh out the pros and cons. We will be there about 10 days & I don't think a 12 pack & a bottle of wine is going to stretch that far.

Theres also a Target on 192 thats closer than Wal-Mart

The policy, as the announcement says, is no eating, drinking or smoking on the bus. I am not aware of a policy regarding bringing unopened six packs of
beer on a bus. I'm also not aware of a driver ever refusing anyone to ride a bus if they're carrying a six pack of beer.
Maybe it's worth finding out?

We strolled over to the Hess Station at Downtown Disney a couple of times during our last visit, it takes just over 5 minutes from Raglan Road, and you can see it so you know where you're heading!

It was quite a well stocked little shop, we got wine, beer, coke and snacks, I seem to remember we spent just over $20, and if we'd bought the same items at our hotel they would have cost around $80. Well worth the 20 minutes or so it took.

We then carried our booty to Raglan Road for dinner and back to the hotel on Disney transportation, no problems whatsoever. We have decided this year to take some sturdier bags with us so we can carry more :)

We prefer to use your alternative, Garden Grocer. Time=Money to us. Plus add in the cost of the taxi, it might be a wash. We order before we leave, have it delivered the day we arrive, and bell services delivers to our room. no taxi, No 2+ hour trip to the store, no leaving the Disney bubble and going back to "reality" and Walmart. That's just our opinion.

yes going to hess is easy

first off i have gone to disney almost 100 times over 3 years.. and going to the hess gas station is a great idea. first of all go to Downtown Disney, not the first drop off the 2nd RIGHT ACROSS FROM THE HESS!!!! bam get you snacks, drinks, beer , and save a ton.. i am always preaching to people bring a a few coolers of FROZEN resealable drinks, or capri suns.. last you all day, also bring those tuna snack kits to save a meal at disney, and when ordering dinner skip the fries or side item and save 2 bucks.

There is no problem taking alcohol on Disney transportation.....as long as it is not open....I do it every trip. I asked before my 1st attempt before i wasted my time. We usually fly in late evening Friday night, the kids go to the pool and I hop a bus to downtown Disney. The previous post was correct about getting off at the 2nd stop (west side), if you get off at the 1st (market place) it is quite a walk. Beyond that, their prices are much more reasonable..I bought a Heineken 18 pak of bottles and the cost was 20 bucks. Their beer selection is not bad for a gas station. Even though the walk is across the parking lot, it's a big parking lot, so carrying much more alcohol then that gets quite heavy, it you have 2 people to help carry things it makes it much easier.
