Getting to Hoop De Doo

Thanks for the info

Let's not get angry at each other. We are talking about a fun vacation here. Here is what I think,
If the bus from MGM Studios has a stop near Pioneer Hall (without changing buses or a long walk), then it is a no-brainer. That is the way to go. I think the boat would be fun but my goal is to get my party of 9 (4 adults and 5 kids - ages range from 9 to 2) to HDD as quick and easy as possible. On getting back to the Swan, the best way might be to get back to MK (via boat or bus) and then take the Swan bus from there.

Hope I summarized it correctly. 12 days until we leave. Very excited.

Happy Halloween to all!!

sw66 posted looking for a quick route to the Hoop Dee Doo...not the scenic route.

So my point is, the bus is quicker and easier.

I'm sure someone else could back me up on the MGM stop at FW. I know FW has had many changes to it's bus routes and opperations in the past. So for all I know the MGM stop coould be a recent change. But I do know for a fact that, that is where it's located.

I apolligize for getting all excited but it just seems ludicrous to give poor advice and continue giving poor advice when there is in fact an easier way.

sw66, if my way doesn't work out for you, you can come back and publically berate me, throw things at me etc... ;)

First off, the bus/boat route is not necessarily the 'scenic' route as you call it. It is a very viable alternative to taking a bus all the way through FW, plus they get the change to view a different resort from the one their staying in. Maybe there is a direct bus from MGM to Pioneer Hall but you still have to go through all of FW to get there.

A viable transportation method is NOT 'poor advice', it is an option to consider as most guests don't even know the resort launches between CR/WL/FW even exist. It's also a lot more pleasant than squishing on a bus, but then that's just MY opinion, which I'm not saying they should follow, I'm just giving some advice like it was asked for.

When I originally posted I chose to skip over the bus option because it has been my experience that the bus transportation to and from FW could get rather confusing, especially since it makes various stops throughout the campground (or at least it did). Also the buses that run to FW have a tendency to stop at WL as well so it may not be a direct route that gets you there. Also you have to remember that the time of year you go affects transportation. Off season doesn't have the same transporation as regular season. Off season transportation has longer wait times between buses.

How's this for some advice then since numerous methods have been mentioned...

Go with what comes first. If the FW bus comes first take that. If a bus for WL/CR/MK comes along first take that and take the boat.

The MGM bus to Fort Wilderness does not go through all of the stops inside Fort Wilderness. It makes one stop and one stop only, at the bus stop at Pioneer Hall. No matter what time of year you go, this will be your quickest way to get there.

I don't remember the bus stop at Pioneer Hall having parks buses stop there either -- just the resort loop. Has someone considered calling Guest Relations/Services/Front Desk at Fort Wilderness?

Who knows with the amount of times things get "tweaked" at Disney!

:hammer:

Only 39 days left til my trip!!!

Take the bus from MGm to Ft. Wilderness and on the return trip I would suggest taking the bus from Ft. Wilderness to the Yacht and Beach Club since it is a short walk over to your resort around the lake.

Good Luck!

I've stayed at Ft. Wilderness 19 times in my 21 years of life. I assure you the MGM stop is by Pioneer Hall. It has been that way FOREVER. From MGM to Ft. Wilderness the bus will stop at the Wilderness Lodge and then goes to the Pioneer Hall stop. It is by far the quickest route...espescially considering you'll be at MGM that day.

Exactly. I have stayed there three times a year for 28 years and its always been there. I remember when the buses were labled with colors of flags with letters in the flag and the one to the MGM studios was a black and gold STE bus.

Ok, I'll jump into the fray here. I have been to WDW over 100 times (since it opened) and each and every time we've stayed at FW.

There is a bus from MGM that stops within seconds of walking to Pioneer Hall. If you are looking for the quickest route that is by far going to be the one you should take.

Now, if it was me staying at the Swan just for kicks I would go back the following route:
1) Exit out of Pioneer Hall and turn left to boat docks
2) Take boat from FW to the Contemporary (possible brief stop at Wilderness Lodge depending on timing, but it's a nice stop to see)
3) Hop Monorail to MK (ask politely to sit with driver)
4) Take bus from MK to Swan

BTW, have a great time at PH, it's one of if not the most fun dinner show at WDW (and it's been there the longest)

This must be the Settlement bus stop then....I remember reading this now but never knew that was the name...I always thought it was somewhere else at FW.

Yes it is and it is perfect for those going to see the show.

Also depending on what time the water parade is that night (if they still do it which we always loved) the boats running around the contemporary/WL/FW might be paused for a few minutes, but just sit tight and enjoy the show from the dock it's a great place to watch it.

Another alternate route (and even more fun if you have the time) would be to take the boat to the Contemporary, Catch the Monorail to the TTC, then catch the Monorail to EPCOT, take a bus back to MGM and then take a boat to the Swan from MGM. (believe it or not I accidentally did this once for a convention) Long, but a great atmosphere (minus the bus).

One thing I love about Disney is no need to drive (especially during the Food/Wine exhibit at EPCOT after an evening of "around the world" drinking games).

We are back. A quick weekend to WDW. Had an awesome time.

Final answer on the MGM to Pioneer Hall is the second stop on the bus is right near Pioneer Hall. Exactly what I needed to get 5 tired children from point A to point B.

Getting back to the Swan wasn't bad either. Boat to MK and bus to Swan.

Hoop Dee Do show was great. The kids loved it. I got volunteered to participate in the grand finale and I became the last one on stage. I won't give more details to not ruin it for others. But to say the least, my kids couldn't stop laughing at me and the love the pictures.

Thanks to all for replying to my question.

I think that the easiest way is to take the bus from MGM to MK, then take the ferry to FW, then go to pioneer hall. Hope this helps. :)

Welcome back! So glad you had a good time - we haven't done the Hoop-De-Doo in a few years, but I'm glad to hear that it's still a lot of fun!
