As far as getting rid of attractions and in park decisions do you think that getting rid of Horizons is the worst decision that Disney has made?

Not building Beastly Kingdom is up there but in my opinion getting rid of Horizons is the worst. To get rid Iran attraction that had such a great and positive theme and message and to replace it with a ride that has no message except a could be hazardos to your health sign is the worst.

Do you agree, if not what was the worst decision made about attractions or park operations?

My 2 cents

I loved Horizons and World of Motion. These attractions were totally unique to Disney. No other theme park can hold a candle to Disney's ability to create these. But, I also love the thrill of Mission Space and Test Track. With all the space they have, I just wish they could build onto EPCOT and not distroy some of the classics. I wish it were not and either/or type of situation. Older guests and young guests who my not be able to enjoy the more thrilling rides could certainly enjoy these. I realize this would create a type of outer circle layout for the park, but, if anyone could design it Disney certainly could. Just my 2 cents worth.

You may be asking the wrong question depending on your intention. Is it the worst descision Disney ever made??!! Of course not. They replaced Horizons, which as I remember was practically a walk on everytime, with a technologically advanced attraction with atleast moderate to high ridership which arguablly helped increase park attendance (don't have the figures.) Was the removal of Horizons personally regretable, absolutely!! I loved that ride. But to call it a potential mistake is an over statement. If there was no drop in guest satisfaction, spending, or attendance than it wasn't a mistake persay. The new imagination on the other hand is a potential mistake. Two multimillion dollar rehabs later, I would argue there is no substantial increase in ridership between the old and current version, and no increase in park attendance. The mistake was cutting the budget but still spending too much for what they got out of it. Too often I would equate budget cuts to loss in long term returns. The Disney brand carries with it extreme expectations with financial fallout when those expectations are not adequately met. You can always argue that something was a mistake when something better or a better version could have been built, but when you replace an unpopular ride with a popular one (terms used relatively speaking), how is that a mistake?

i agree that replacing World Of Motion and Horizons were mistakes. Those were two of my favorite rides, and I would ride them multiple times as a 9-10 year old. I almost never ride their replacements, I don't find Test Track that thrilling and my fiance is not a big fan of Mission:Space. At the same time, I understand why they brought in the thrill rides, even if I preferred the old rides.

Yea I never got that about Test Track either. There really isnt much thrill in the attraction. Though I do enjoy riding it, but its not a must see
