Getting in the mood for your trip

We fly out of the UK on Wednesday and even though I've visited Florida countless times, we're in 'the zone' already ands really excited. New trainers purchased today, new jeans for the flight and a nice short hair cut in preparation for the humidity of Orlando. Taxi to the airport booked, hand luggage packed and spoiling the dog rotten before her 'holiday' at the kennels.

With some of the 'chores' out of the way, we're now doing some of the more enjoyable things to prepare. These include watching 'From Dusk Till Dawn', 'Alien vs Predator' and 'Halloween' in preparation of our first visit to Halloween Horror Nights. Watching clips on youtube of the various parks and my wife has 'booked in' the dates she wants to shop and I've relented and agreed to take her on those days. Also tomorrow we're going to go through our 7 days worth of FP+ reservations to see if we need to 'fine tune' any of them or change any completely. Even though I'm 45 to say I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve is an understatement. Sorry to bore you folks with my wittering on, I'm just so happy our holiday is almost here.

So with just over 3 days to go we're now really getting in the mood. So I'm just wondering what type of things you guys do to get in the mood before your trips?

We always watch the vacation planning DVD. We look at the attractions, resorts etc. and we do lament on some of the changes and get excited about some of the new ones. We watch the newest one but we also watch the one with Dave, Erin and Co. That one was from when our DS was little and it always brings back some great memories.

I am in the zone already with 52 days to go. (I think I am worse than a child- and I don't feel bad about that - I love Disney and I am not afraid to admit it) I am currently trying to decide what decoration I can add to my Disney resort window, I have just bought a cheap pair of Mickey ears that I am going to attempt to personally customise before our trip. I also have my top 5 Disney DVD's ready to watch before we go. Planner done, fast pass booked along with a tour. I want to pack but have been told I need to wait another couple of weeks as it's too early (I don't think so!)
Have a Magical time - I hope you manage to get some sleep before you go as I am struggling this far out! I am excited for you. Enjoy

We flip through our guide books to see if we are overlooking something we might want to add to our trip plans. Review the trip agenda, recheck dining ADR's, make sure we have all the confirmation numbers written down. Call to reconfirm resort reservations. Look up the Disney restaurant menus and think about what delicious morsels we are about to taste. Check and double check the packing list/suitcases, anything to add but beware of the weight. Count up the Disney gift cards and wonder should we run out and grab a few more. Think about cash we are taking and if we need to pad he wallet some more. Watch many of the Youtube videos of guest rides on our favorite attractions. Call friends and relatives to remind them of our trip and hear them cry that they arent going along. Laugh an evil laugh... yes we are going and youre not. Watch our favorite Disney films and cartoon shorts. Look through my pin albums to remind myself of what I have so I wont trade for doubles. Look through photo albums of our earlier trips, think about photo shots we want to get this time. Dream about that first step onto main street and that first look at the castle.
Have a wonderful flight and trip.

I pack, unpack and repack my bags! I prepare myself for all situations and get a little OCD with packing. Check the weather one last time. I watch YouTube videos of Wishes. I try a few more times to get that reststaurant reservation I wanted.I start planning on what snacks I want for each park. That usually includes which cupcake I need to buy and where to get it! I enjoy planning the small details as much as I do going on the trip.

I am as bad as Longers! I'm 48 days out and ready to pack! My thinking is I won't be needing too many shorts for the next two months (its a high of 73 degrees today) so why not pack them as I pull them out of the dryer! Right now I am just getting the small things (travel size shampoo, toothpaste, etc) into the suitcase. I predict I'll be fully packed by Oct 1.

Love your thinking. If we didn't have company staying over in 2 weeks the cases would be out and I would be packing regardless of what my hubby says! As soon as they are gone I AM packing......

That's a bit on the last minute !!!............

To "get in the mood" I'm on here (330+ days out) as its amazing what you learn, and what I've forgotten since our last trip almost 6 years ago. And then of course, there's You Tube and Blu Ray

I am still 436 days out (it was 509 when I booked so going down!) but have been looking at suitcases online this morning as I need a new one, with plenty of room for all those Disney items I will be bringing home! Have heard 'mad' and 'lost the plot' mentioned when I have said what I am doing, but hey never to early to plan and get in the mood right

We leave on Thursday for our 2014 WDW adventure. We will be there 9/18 - 9/27 and hubby and I are both bouncing off the walls with excitement. We just did our final check list walk through so that we can run out and pick up any last minute items today. We are all packed, except for our personal items. Yesterday we made a minor adjustment to our Fastpass selections for one of our days based on what the weather is showing. Now.....it's just a matter of getting thru the next 3 days of work. YouTube videos are the best. We also watched Star Wars last night. Today, I'm going to put my Halloween decorations up to get me in the mood for my THREE Halloween parties that we are attending. That was hubby's decision...not mine. But now that they are booked I am excited. Have a great trip!

We leave Wednesday morning got our trip. We've been counting down the days since we booked it back in February. Crossing our fingers in weather, it says rain almost everyday, but hope gully it's just an hour long sprinkle each day. YouTube videos help us get in the mood. Also just picking up the iPad together and looking through MDE gets us excited as well. It's right around the corner, can't wait.

We are leaving on Friday and I like to pull out the old videos my husband did each year when the kids were little and look at them again. So many changes in the parks and it's fun to see the kids having fun as their adults now.

Before every trip I like to go out to The Museum of Science & Industry out here in Chicago...I don't know what it is about it but, to me it always had an Epcot-ish vibe to the place and I always like going to it...Plus with the Treasures of The Disney Archives exhibit made an extended stay until Jan 2015 it's nice to get to see it again before I go on my next trip!
