Getting from Disney to Universal

We will be going to Universal Studios 2 of the days we are there. Who should we talk to about transportation there? We are staying at Pop Century and I was just wondering if there's taxi's around. Sorry, I'm really not sure!

Taxis can be one of the more-expensive options for getting to Universal. But if you're looking for a taxi, the front desk or Bell Services desk should be able to help. There's almost always a taxi or two around to pick people up.

If you only have a couple people, you can arrange with Mears to get shared-van service to and from Universal. You can either make arrangements before you leave home, or as late as the day before you want to go to Universal. Just dial the operator on your in-room phone and ask to be connected. (Mears operates Magical Express, so the call is free by doing it that way) I believe it's $17-20 roundtrip per person.

You can also arrange for a private towncar service to bring you. That would probably be comparable in price to a taxi.

If you have a number of people (plus because you're going for two days), it might be more economical to rent a car for a few days through Alamo or National at one of the on-property rental locations. They'll pick you up at your hotel and bring you to the rental location, and drop you off again when you return the car.

Ok, thanks
Do you know around how much it would be for a taxi? There's only 3 of us...so maybe we'll do the shuttle thing. Our hotel will probabaly let us know I guess. I just wanted to know what everyone else has done before. Thanks!

When I had friends in town staying onsite it cost us about $30-40 each way to take a taxi to Universal from Pop and that was before tip so it was pretty expensive.

not sure if this is true, but a friend told me that if we went to the boardwalk when we want to go to universal, a taxi is a lot cheaper from there
i didnt know about the mears thing though so maybe thats better than wasting time going to different places first :confused:

If you use a car service you can sometimes get a discount if you mention that you belong to a Disney website. I know there is one on the homepage of this website and ther is another on allearsnet.com. I like a car service because it's for you only and you set the times you want.
