Getting around

Hello! How long does it take to get to and from other parks at WDW? We are staying at Pop Century in October. With all the ADR's I want to make sure if I have to leave the park to get to the place for dinner that I give myself enough time. Most of our ADR's are at the park we plan to be at for the day. Also, is it better to drive your vehicle where you want to go from the hotel? Thank you!

Just depends on personal preference really. Usually bus trips take a max of 15 mins or so but you have to account for the time you'll spend waiting for the bus (officially a max of 20 mins). The advantage is that they often drop you closer to the parks than you'd be if you drove and no-one has to drive!. Obviously there's no difference in cost except for gas (assuming you're gonna have a car there anyway) because park parking is free for all hotel guests. It also depends on where you're trying to get to. For example, going from park to park or park to hotel is easy enough but if you want to go from hotel to hotel then that takes twice the time (at least).

Car is quicker between any two parks / resorts on WDW property as you're not standing waiting for the bus to arrive. If you factor waiting time out of the equation then bus is faster as it picks up and drops off nearer to the park entrance.

Max journey time is AK to either MK or any of the MK resorts - I'd suggest that the above example of 15mins is too low for this journey, you're looking at nearer 20/25 minutes.

I always use the bus system and only ever had one problem (and that was on a Grad Night when the whole transport system seems to get a little backed-up).

Disney always say to arrive for an ADR around 30mins before your seating time. Take this into account and leave 30mins before your planned arrival time (e.g. for a 7.00pm meal leave at 6.00pm). This should also give you time to get into the parks / through the hotels etc as necessary.

If any ADR in particular bothers you then post it here and someone will be able to give you the best way to get from A to B.

If you are going from one place to another using Disney transportation, I would allow an hour at least. You never know what could happen and its better to be early than lose your ADR's. This is from personal experience and we use the one hour now and we always arrive with time to spare.

Agree with this. Allow one hour from the time you leave one park till you are at your restaurant.

Using your car would be the faster way. None of the waiting on crowded busses, etc. You dont know how long you may have to wait on the next one. We find moving from one park to another is a short 15 minute or so trip. Very little time is wasted, your constantly moving.

Allow about an hour...we used nothing but Disney transportation and have no complaints. One morning the Epcot Monorail didn't work (we had breakfast ADRs at Epcot). Transportation Center dispatched a bus and made sure our reservation was held for us. I was very happy. The restaurant manager even came over to make sure we had made it.

We had a similar experience, and Disney transportation treated us like VIPs, too, but transportation between Parks shouldn't be a problem.
