Getting a Job at WDW

My wife and I are thinking of relocating to Central Florida soon. I'm wondering about the job prospects with Disney.

I have been in the entertainment field for 17 years (radio) and been performing and taking speaking classes now for nearly 35 years. Entertainment is in my blood. I emceed a kindergarten school play when I was five years old since I was the only one in the class who could read. (Long story...I'll tell ya about it sometime..lol)

I know there are a lot of jobs related to the entertainment industry in and around Disney. Just wondering what my chances would be to tie down a job with Disney.

I have had several people (including my wife, aunt and two cast members I have spoke with when we're on vacation down there) encourage me to apply for work there.

I am currently in the pit of Florida (north central) and really want to make a relocation change to Orlando.

If anyone has any advice, post it here. Can't wait to hear your ideas.

We always need more entertaining cast members...how fun would it be to be Streetmosphere over at Studios or MK? It's not that difficult to audition, and totally worth it. Definitely check it out!

I am not a cm but it sounds like you would be great for a job there. You definitely have a bunch of experience and I think you should apply. I'm jealous, I want to work at Disney so bad when I get older. (currently almost 16)

Disney outsources their DJ's and that sort of thing so if that's what you're interested in it would be worth looking into where they're getting those from so you could be on that list. As for regular entertainment the pay is iffy unless you want to be equity, which is a costly process but probably worth it in the long run. But other than Disney there are a lot of general entertainment oppurtunities in the area.

I would definitely look into the different options available to you and go for it Research pay, union info, etc and keep us posted on what you decide!

...and what are you thinking calling north central Florida the pit of FL? It's a total paradise. :lookaroun

Disney is a GREAT place to work - this will be my fourth summer working as a seasonal (Casual Temporary) CM in Fantasyland. :sohappy: However - it's not necessarily a great place to make money. :lookaroun I teach school in northern New York ten months of the year, so Disney is a fun summer job, not my major source of income for the year. It's also outside my profession, and, as such, provides a great change of pace for me.

That said, if you really want to work for Disney, I would encourage you to seek professional opportunities within the company in your field.

Guess it rightfully earned its nickname then :lol: An hour south of you isn't much better either... darn them for plunking down a good university here lol
