I prefer Dave Goelz's Figment to Billy Barty's. To be honest the original one sounds a bit like he has a bad cold, and Dave Goelz clears it up enough to match the character.

You guys do it too. State what you can stand (If you like Stitch's Great Escape, tell us why!), what you can't, and what you find weird about the parks. Stuff that isn't really tried and true facts.

OK. I LIKE Stitch's Great Escape and much prefer it over Alien Encounter because it's lighter in tone. Instead of being dark and sinister, it's cute and mischevious, with a playful anarchic spirit; but you never get the sense that Stitch is evil or out to hurt anyone. The tone of this attraction suits my taste more than the previous tenant and therefore I visit it much more. Which is to say fairly regularly, wheras AE was a routine "skipper" for me! I feel Stitch is a better fit for the Magic Kingdom than AE was.

The only attraction I do HATE the way most people on the boards seem to hate Stitch is the one across the midway - Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor!

As for your Figment example, I LOVE Dave Goelz's current version, too! While I prefer both the original Barty Figment and his original attraction the best (my all-time Epcot fave!), the sadly much-maligned current version is my favorite attraction in CURRENT Epcot and my second favorite Epcot attraction of all time!

When it comes down to it, I'm just a HUGE fan of uber-cute Figment and his catchy "One Little Spark" theme song, so ANY Figment is better than none at all! The current version still has that spirit of playful whimsy that I loved about the original Figment, and Goelz does a good job becoming Figment - I mean, I had NO idea that it was him until I read it LONG after I had ridden his version many, many, times!

I HATE the Stitch attraction. I have visited it exactly once, and that was enough. When a Disney attraction fails to entertain and, even worse, makes little kids cry, then I think it's safe to say that it's a major FAIL.

And I'm not saying that because I'm sorry it replaced Alien Encounter. I never saw Alien Encounter. For the record.

I HATE the sappy nasal tween-girl-singer-voiceover we get for too many Disney songs. When I was at WDW last, there was this weird mini-parade for Sleeping Beauty. The song Once Upon A Dream was playing out of the park's speakers, and this treacly girl singer screeched it at the top of her lungs. AUUUGHGHHH!!! Horrible horrible horrible. I wanted to scream: :zipit:

I hate that the Yeti's been broken for two years.

I hate that Dreamfinder is gone. I never saw it in person, but I watched a Youtube video of the original ride, because I'd read so many positive comments about it. And it was indeed awesome. Unfortunately, the new ride is terrible. Like a bad Saturday morning cartoon. Worse, it's the kind of bad Saturday morning cartoon that tries to teach you something. And little Figment is very annoying. Such a charming-looking character too. Bummer.

I don't exactly hate, but I strongly dislike that Disney is buying up stuff like Marvel and the Muppets. Uncle Walt would never do that. If he wanted to have superheroes amongst his characters, he would create original ones. As for Muppets, they are so last century and don't fit within the Disney pantheon. He'd have no use for them at all. And so I strongly dislike the idea of Spiderman or the Muppets showing up anywhere in any Disney park. Buying a character doesn't make it a Disney character. So begone, Spiderman! Back to Universal with you! Same to you, Muppets. Go away! Shoo! Go build your own park and appear in it if you're so popular. Or find one with which your style won't clash. How about Sesame Place?

On the other hand, I don't hate Star Wars or Indiana Jones being in the parks, although it still seems a bit wrong somehow. They're just guest stars. Nobody's pretending they're part of the Disney stable.

I hate that Jungle Cruise hasn't been majorly refurbed or simply replaced. Riding it was an embarrassment. I felt bad for the CM. He did his level best to make a hokey has-been ride enjoyable, but it was just lame.

And I really hate that Beastly Kingdom was cancelled. One of the dumbest moves the Disney suits ever made. AK is almost fatally weakened without it, because as zoos go, it's a wash. I have been there numerous times, and seeing the wild animals is, well, wildly variable. They do learn how to hide after awhile, and I can hardly blame them. Then there's the abysmal Hester and Chester junk, the underwhelming Dinosaur ride (bereft of any real scares or wonder), and again, the broken Yeti. In fact, the only really cool think in AK is the Tree of Life and the show beneath its roots. That is awesome. But still, all in all, while AK looks nice, as a park, it's in real trouble. After the Fantasyland expansion, I think the Imagineers and co. really need to get to work on AK. It's in dire need of help.

I can tolerate most of the attractions in the parks, because I try to find enjoyment in everything.

But the thing I hate most is walking around Future World and remembering what it was 10-12 years ago. And I hate the fact that I can never get a Fast Pass for Soarin', there are not more rides at Animal Kingdom, Animal Kingdom closing early every day, no nighttime parade at EPCOT (Tapestry of Nations!), shortened Backlot Tour at MGM, the rangers at the golf courses not speeding along the hackers in front of us, and finally the anticlimactic descent at Spaceship Earth. These are just a few things I can think of off the top of my head, but there's more!

You have absolutely no idea what Walt would/wouldn't do.

Do you object to Mary Poppins being in the parks? Peter Pan? Winnie the Pooh? Snow White? Alice? Cinderella? I can go on for days.

None of those characters were created by Walt or the Disney company, far from it actually. They were already established stories/franchises and they're all considered "Disney characters" despite this fact.

I can't stand:
Stitch's Great Escape
How theres only one Country Bear show throughout the year ;(
Strollers on a busy MK night
Th Seas With Nemo and Friends (the ride not the exhibits)
How WOL is still empty
How there's no production at the Studios
How The Hat is still there
How DINOSAUR'S effects aren't working properly (I can live with it though it's still a great ride).
How Beastly Kingdomme is still not in AK.
And finally

HOW THE YETI HAS STILL NOT HAS BEEN FIXED!!! WHO CARES TDO, attendance won't drop anyway because it's a Disney park. People are going to come. And if you put work into to it, YOU'll INSPIRE PEOPLE TO COME BACK TO SEE THE YETI IN IT'S GLORY! The ride needs to be fixed, FIX IT! MK survived for 7 months without it's original thrill ride. AK can survive also.

I like Laugh Floor. Should it be in Tomorrowland? Eh, not really. Was Timekeeper better. BIG YES. But it's unique, creative, fun, and they keep adding new material!

The Jungle Cruise a has been?
Dinosaur isn't thrilling?
No muppets or marvel?

You do know:
Jungle Cruise still packs em in.
I see more adults scared of Dino than any other ride in Disney
Most of all the princesses with th exception of nala weren't always Disney characters? Winnie the Pooh and Marry Poppins weren't neither. Tarzan is also in there. And so are a lot of others.

You can say what Walt wanted. The public loves the muppets and marvel and those franchises are making money. So why not buy something that'll make you money?

Well, since I didn't give an explanation above as to why I made the negative comment about MILF, here goes. (I've posted this a few other places but you may not have seen it, and I guess I just want to show there's a legitimate reason for my "anti-MILF" bias. It is rare that I feel so strongly against any of the attractions)

I wouldn't mind it so much if they didn't put people's pictures on the screen and make fun of them. (Both "that guy" and people at random before the show starts). They really should have a warning outside the theatre that "by entering you give consent for your likeness to be used as part of the show and possibly made fun of". That way people who are INTENSELY shy and made EXTREMELY uncomfortable by things such as even the SLIGHTEST bit of public attention (negative, neutral, or even good!) would know not to enter. This concept is really no different than the warnings outside of thrill rides that warn that those with motion sickness, back, neck, heart problems, etc, should not ride! They also use warnings when filming comercials in the parks, so you know to stay away from certain areas if you don't want to be filmed.

I'm just glad they didn't pick on me or put me on the screen the one time I sat through this torture. I doubt they would have cared for what I would have had to say if they would have! And now that at least I know to avoid this show, I do. Is it a Disney park attraction, or a jumbotron at a sporting event? It was honestly hard to tell, at times.

Even though I know now to avoid it, I feel bad for all the people who end up in there with no idea what they are getting into, if that sort of thing makes them uncomfortable.

And even without those issues, it wasn't even funny!

Easily my most hated/disliked attraction in Disney theme park history.

I'd honestly rather spend 5 minutes in one of the smoking areas than have to watch this show again, and I'm a non-smoker! But at least it would take less of my time!

I agree. It's a pretty decent attraction in it's own right, but the placement just isn't too great.

Most of all the princesses with th exception of nala weren't always Disney characters? Winnie the Pooh and Marry Poppins weren't neither. Tarzan is also in there. And so are a lot of others.

Actually, there was a bit of controversy over The Lion King. Some say that the story came from a Japanese TV show called Kimba the White Lion. I'm not quite sure that there is a character in this work that is similar to Nala, but there are many "coincidental" parallels between Kimba and the Lion King. One less potential original princess.

There are very few Disney characters who are original, with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, Daisy, Chip, Dale, and Dumbo being among the popular ones in the bunch. If you expand to live action films, the main characters of Pirates and perhaps Madame Leota are really the only significant characters that I can think of.

I swear we had this discussion in another thread. Or I'm going crazy. Either or.

Anyway, my comments weren't in response to you (I didn't read any of the other posts really before posting as I felt this was more of an air dirty laundry kinda thing) but just me expressing a different opinion from the usual "IT SUCKS CUZ IT REPLACED TIMEKEEPER!!1!" discussion.

Also I'm okay with Ellen's Energy Adventure, but only for the fact that Bill Nye's there. And I have to wonder if it'd lasted so long without the Science Guy.

I hate all the hate!

Folks are so quick to go off on what they find unenjoyable in the parks. I mean I know these are the internets and people feel this is their card blanc to dispense with the malcontent vitriol inside them...but must we stoke those fires???

As for me, I can honestly say there is nothing I "hate" with the parks or the resort. There are attractions that may not appeal to me, but quite frequently those same attractions are ones that really make my daughters smile and bring them the magic and for that they become enjoyable for me as well.
