Generic Children's Menu

I just found out that Disney is using a generic children's menu. This is very disappointing since we are planning a 9 day trip in May with four children. Who came up with the menu, obviously not someone who has kids. I don't know any kids that would ask for chicken salad? Where are the hotdogs, burgers, PB&J or grilled cheese? Does anybody know who we can complain to so our voice can be heard?:veryconfu

Can you be more specific on where this menu will be used?

I just came back from a weeks trip with my family and was actually surprised at the kids choices. Yes the typical Mac-n-cheese, chicken fingers were on the menus but they had specifics for each restaurant as well. They had spagetti or pizza for my girls at Tony's at MK and Steak or hamburger at Le Cellier's in Canada at Epcot and Pligrims Feast (turkey and mashed potatoes) for kids at Liberty Tree. (the Pilgrims feast for my girls was almost exactly the same as our plate minus the dressing and our plate was very large!:slurp:

Anyway, I was pleased with the menus.

I got my information from AllEarsNet.com. I hope you are right because I couldn't imagine that the children would have to choose off such a simple menu for lunch and dinner. I think it could have gotten real ugly. We are participating in the dining plan and I believe we would need to buy some adult food for the kids. This is but one small bump in the road.

I just looked at Debs site and saw what you were talking about! I do remeber the kids menus being the same with a slight difference of one or maybe two entree selections! Those selections I posted above. SO hopefully restaurants will keep at least one of their own entrees on the menu.:veryconfu

I hope so as well. My 9 yr old is going to want some choices for her age range. It seems that this menu is more for the younger end of the spectrum. *shrugs*

Most of the time our kids are so hyped up on adrenaline (sp?) that we are lucky to get them to eat anything that is placed in front of them while we are WDW.

I was just on allearsnet and there was an amendment to the original statement. It said this menu is being rolled out at some, not all, WDW restaurants. They stated that this menu will be tried at Tony's, Prime Time, Mama Melrose, Brown Derby, and SciFi. They still aren't clear on whether this is permanent or a test run.
Good news for me, we don't have ressies at any of those restaurants, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. I think, regardless, I'll keep a PBJ sandwich in my backpack for my son JUST IN CASE.

This sounds like something that is getting test run at different places. I am sure if there is negative feedback the old menus will return.

I'm kinda surprised that Brown Derby would have this seeing as it is a signature place and counts as 2 dinning credits. I'd like to think at least the signature places would have better children's offerings.
We will be dining at Jiko next month and instead of using 2 credits for a childs meal, I plan to just pay for it. I just can't bring myself use 2 credits for a childs meal, but that's just me. lol

Wow, just checked that out. I would hope that Disney will remember that there are guests who are there for an extended length of stay. I can't see my kids being happy with 3 choices every day..luckily we have reservations only at Tony's, most of the others are buffets. If I have to I'd buy an adult meal and split it between the kids and use their other kids meals for some other meal.
