General Thoughts of Frozen

I was just shocked they had not made one of them black/asian/african etc or come from a multi-racial family - just to force the multicultural angle a bit.....it seems everything else does this.

To introduce a multi racial family they would most probably have to make a movie set in our time and age, which I guess is unlikely with princesses.
But they sure could make a princess movie where 2 or 3 princesses of different ethnicities meet and share a great experience ("we're different, but alike").

They saved that for Big Hero 6 which, considering the original source showcases Japanese people instead of white people, seems... I don't know, but I'm still not terribly comfortable with it.

They were biological siblings from the same parents originating from a place based on ancient Norway.

Good thing too. We wouldn't want any of the millions of young girls of various ethnic backgrounds currently growing up in the United States to be able to better identify with any Disney characters, would we?

To be fair, Disney is a bit better at diversity than other companies (just do a search about the history of the proposed Akira live-action remake starring ALL WHITE PEOPLE). Aside from the obvious of Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, and Tiana, you'll have Gogo Tomago from the upcoming BH6, Esmeralda from Hunchback, Kida and Audrey from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Elisa Maza from Gargoyles, and probably others I can't remember off the top of my head.

Like Frozen. I am just overwhelmed by the amount of Frozen "activities" and entertainment that has been added temporarily. I am also overwhelmed by the amount of time for Anna and Elsa meet n greet! In 5-10 years from now, we'll all forget about Frozen, and it'll be something else! Will Cinderella's Royal Table refurb include Anna and Elsa when it reopens?;)

Oh I totally agree! I was just making a general statement.

And again, I LOVE Frozen and thought it was perfect. Zero complaints from me on that one.

As good as Frozen is doing in the parks Disney has it all wrong. For a start yes the theme is going to die out. I remember when Toy Story and Lion King was big, all these things die out. There altering the parks way to much now and it's going to cost allot to put things back to the way they were. I honestly think if Frozen came out before the Fantasyland Expansion it would have it's own section and still should have it's own little consolidated and much more organized section in Fantasyland. It would do very well. But the frozen attractions are scattered and unorganized, they are going to run into trouble. Just look at how long the Millennium Celebration lingered at Epcot

We were at WDW last month and we saw most if not all of the Frozen content in the parks. I didn't think it was too much based on how popular the franchise is right now - this is coming from a father of 2 girls who love Frozen, so believe me, I've had my fill at home as well. All things being equal, I didn't find it oppressive and frankly I'm amazed it's not more pervasive. I expect maybe one or two permanent attractions (1 will be the Maelstrom makeover).

The bigger issue IMO is the bandwidth or lack thereof for seeing the shows, M&Gs, etc. Its obviously hugely popular - if you're going to have Frozen offerings, at least don't compound the issue with making people wait. Just like any other similarly popular franchise from the past, interest will eventually wane - I just hope any permanent content that is installed now will be suitably designed for some future proofing, not just implanted to fill a short term gap.

I read an article about Frozen that they had to rewrite the movie after the song Let it Go was written. Originally Elsa was supposed to be the normal "evil" person of the movie. When the songwriters presented Let it Go, the writers looked at each other and instantly knew they had to rewrite the movie so Elsa wasn't "evil". I'm so glad they rewrote it.

BTW I love the thriller video above!

There's another one out there for Gangnam Style....but I won't post it here because Anna's animation is a bit wonky.

Parts of her dress disappear entirely....and, well....
