It's really no surprise that ea would cancel a new single player star wars game. I will be following closely to see how outlaws does from Ubisoft. I think a lot of star wars games that are in development might just ride on how successful it is. Like the movies, I think there have been more star wars games cancelled than released since Disney has taken over.

I believe the thread was created about general Disney game news, given the recent partnership with Epic having a generic thread makes sense.

The Respawn cancellation just happened to be the first story posted.

Regarding the Mandalorian game... yes.

The consequences of the lay-offs for other games... no.

Also, as a "general" thread, it should catch other announcements big and small in one place.

Of course, a separate thread for a specific game is not precluded.

I don't understand why EA won't make more SW Battlefront games. I believe both games are in the top 3 for best selling SW games of all time

While technically it isn't officially announced, people from ea have said it's still in the works. I actually don't think it's bad that we don't have a battlefront 3 yet. The second game was well supported with content updates and it was still had a strong player count. So if they've been using this time properly, so we don't have a battlefront one and two launch, it's all good. Don't get me wrong, that's a HUGE IF when talking about ea. Lol

Haven't heard that, hope it's true. You would think a franchise that people like and makes money, a sequel would be a no brainer.
Though it's possible they are just waiting for a new SW film to release to tie in maps, etc...

Yea but you are a rational person. This is ea and Disney we are talking about. Lol

The big issue is Disney doesn't take video games seriously, specifically Iger. So a game that should 100% be a priority was left to one of the worst companies in the industry. But at least battlefront got off the ground I suppose. Knight's of the old republic only has one remake that's been all but cancelled to show. And that's on many peoples top RPGs of all time.
