Anyone ever gone who has had Gastric Bypass Surgery?

My husband is having this surgery done on June 1st and we are planning our trip for Sept. 21-Oct. 2. We're going then for the free dining :sohappy:, but was wondering what your experiences have been after surgery.

I will also be about 7 months pregnant and traveling with a 2 year old. :sohappy:

So excited this question came up, my mother had this surgery in August 08. My whole family is going to Disney in July. We are not on the dining plan and my mother cannot eat alot of food and since she is over the age of 9 cannot order from the kids menu (which she does if we are out at a fast food place) anyway we are not wanitng to pay 35.00 for a princess castle breakfast when 1) she cannot eat everything that is served and 2) she cannot eat that much. My sister in law called Disney and they said that they will assign her a personal chef for the week and will let her know what she can and cannot eat from each restaruant she chooses. They did not answer the questions about price though. Does anyone have any information on this?

I absolutely LOVE Disney . . . that is awesome!!!

My mother-in-law also has a card she carries in her wallet and uses it at any buffet restaurant she goes to. She doesn't say anything if she orders a dish because she can just take the leftovers home, but on a buffet she really doesn't feel she eats an adults portion.

Most restaurants have been courteous and obliged by the card, so be sure he gets one, not just for WDW but all buffets.

I disagree with the poster who said "lapband or not" every adult should pay adult prices at Disney. Why on earth would I wish to pay an adult price if I am having 3 ounces of food? That is absolutely ridiculous. Especially in these tough financial times.

No offense meant at all, but for the same reason as if I go to Disney with a heart condition or some other disability and can't go on the majority of rides. I still have to pay full price adult admission.

Indeed. Its priced by age, not quantity. If adults that eat child-sized portions qualify for childrens pricing, should children that pig out and eat three plates piled with food be charged the adult price?

"I am sorry sir, your son just went back for his third helping of prime rib and has now eaten enough food to make a grown man ill, that will be an additional $15.95 please."

The thing that I like is if Disney will allow you to pay a lower price (from the emails I've sent and received from the rest. managers, etc) then we will take advantage of it. I'm sure if other people who have commented differently were in my husbands shoes and everyone else that's had the surgery had the surgery done, they would feel gyped by paying such high prices when they can only eat a very limited amount and are limited period on what they can eat at all. Just like if Disney offered a lower price for a meal and a higher price, which would you pick if you had the choice?

I was more interested in peoples experience at Disney with the gastric bypass or those who have traveled with having it. This is totally new to us and wanted to hear about peoples experiences. We've already talked with his surgeon and she saw absolutely no reason not to go. At least we have her blessing.....the rest is up to my husband!
