Hi all,

I was just wondering if there is anybody on here that can give us an update on the status of the cast member who played Gaston that went viral. Is he back in his role yet or due to be soon?

Thanks

Helen :)

I don't have firsthand knowledge of the matter, but from what I understand that particular friend of Gaston won't be back.

So, after reading the thread mentioned above, he was disciplined for being too Gaston"y"? Good lord, nothing wrong at all with what he did. Face characters need a little leeway with the rules, a looser leash or something like that. Will Drizella and Anastasia and Lady Tremaine get disciplined for being too bitchy and snarky?
Stand, smile and wave and pose....nothing to see here, move along.

^^^^ Essentially yes - and that blows because that is exactly what makes the character fun. I've seen other Gaston's and they are great, but that guy was legendary.

I hope UNI or some Renaissance fair picked him up into a larger role because he'd be more appreciated and allowed more freedom for character. Especially Ren faires - we have a large one 5 minutes from our house that is 100% interactive improv with tons of adult tongue-in-cheek humor they turn on/off depending on who they're interacting with - and even then, it's humor goes over kid's (and some adult's) heads.

Having someone play Gaston and not be arrogant and overly macho and self-absorbed totally defeats the purpose of having him in the park. It blows the illusion. Imagine meeting Mary Poppins and not having her be anything less than 'proper' and a bit stern. If she came off like Snow White, she wouldn't be Mary. And vice versa with Snow White being sweet and innocent. This isn't cosplay Disney...in the minds of the young (and those young at heart) these folks ARE the characters. Shakespeare was right..."First, kill all the lawyers." or whoever makes up these asinine policies.

Either way, I think many were holding out hope he'd return to the role after the attention died down.

I hope he at least has a job there or somewhere, that appreciates his talent - which is why I'm sure @HelenBezzo and his fans here would like to know.
