I'm starting to plan where we would like to eat during our vacation and I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the Liberty Tree Tavern and the Garden Grill. I would like to do one of these character meals and have read everything the guidebooks say about them, but was wondering if anyone could share their personal experiences. Thanks!!!

You really can't go wrong with either one.

I've gotten great meals at both.

The character interaction at both is great. I've had a few more interuptions at Liberty Tree due to people walking in and having kids running over to the table. I do get kids that are leaving stopping back by my table at the Garden Grill more than I have at Liberty Tree.

Garden Grill is very nice - good meals, portions, service and the characters were brilliant. I haven't visited the Liberty Tree, but in my opinion you won't be disappointed with GG.

Haven't been to GG, but have been to the character dinner at LT twice. Enjoyed the food, and the characters dress up in colonial period dress. Very cute! The characters don't run around and dance like they do at some of the other character meals, due to lack of space, and steps seperating different levels of the Tavern. There was a pretty discussion about the food at LT. Look at page 13 under this forum and you will see a post for "Your thoughts on Liberty Tree Tavern". This should help. If you have kids, research the menu to make sure they are okay with what they serve.

Just a preview of what it's like...

definitely the LTT. Everytime we go to Disney, the first day we always go to the MK and have the character Dinner there. It is great to just get you in the "Disney mood and mindset."

Especially with the MK closing earlier after August 24, try to get the latest seating possible (like 5:30 for a 6:00 closing day). this way you can eat and then lesiurely stroll down main street and out of the park.

Great idea, pooh&eyore. That would make for some fantastic photo ops. I'll have to remember that one in case my family is down there during a shortened hours season.

hey there all I have been the LTT a few times this time, it wasnt so very good. I miss the ham on the menu in May they switched to a smoked Pork Chop. Kinda grisly and not as nice as the ham. The Carrots have also been replaced with a mix of squash, rudebaga and something else. That was pretty OK. Also Id look into it before i made my PS arrangements as my waiter told me they were thinking of going to an Ala Carte menu. Dont know if you want the all you can eat thing. I have only been to the GG for breakfast ( Discontinued now) and I thought everything was good althoguh not so into the smoked pork chop. The sausages were good though as was the baked goods. Our servers at both places are wonderful. Whichever you choose enjoy!!

We are big fans of the GArden Grill (have been known to eat there twice in one trip). The food is always excellent. There is nothing fancy or out of the ordinary (roast chicken, fried catfish and some type of roast beef or brisket--I don't eat beaf so I don't remember, but the rest of the party usually goes on and on about how tender and juicy it is). The chicken is very good and hte catfish is fantasic. Also, vegetables are different depending on the season but always great. The desserts are usually scrumptious (and are included at the GArden Grill-I don't thik they are at Liberty Tree Tavern). My favorite is the strawberry shortcake in the spring.

we really enjoyed the food and character meals at LTT...we were there end of May/first week of June but we had Ham instead of the pork chops mentioned above....so you might call ahead to see what exactly they have. we were so full we didn't have room for sweets anyway.....besides you have to hit the ice cream parlor or the bakery on the way out anyway RIGHT???LOL

Love the Garden Grill. Just going to a rotating restaurant was neat enough, but you get a cool view of the Living with the Land ride, character interaction, great food, and all you can eat. You should go at least once.

I agree with you, Spider-man. The Garden Grill is an all around great restaurant. But, the Liberty Tree Tavern is my favorite restaurant in all of Walt Disney World. :animwink:
