Gangster or Bandit

In The Great Movie Ride, you can get two possible rides.

The "A" Show is Bandit with the cowboy/cowgirl.

The "B" Show is Gangster with the live gangster and the shooting car.

Which do you prefer?

I like Bandit, mainly because it is more rare and I've only seen it twice, but also because i had some good friends who worked at Bandit.

I've only been on "B", but have always wanted to see "A". Any tips on how to see it?

Go when it is BUSY and ask to ride in the front car when you get to the front of the line. You will likely have to wait a little longer, but it is worth it!

I've been on BOTH, and I must say that I enjoy the cowboy/cowgirl one better!! I've also experienced that part of the ride when the CM (actor) wasn't very good?! Now I know that it's not hollywood (no pun intended) but I would think that they would want the best folks for those spots?? One guy was really...REALLY BAD!!! :hurl: Just the way that he portrayed the "gangster" was as if he thought the whole thing was just STUPID??!! His entire dialog was delivered as if he were actually READING it (not acting it)!! Anyways, when it is done well, the bandit one is better!!! IMHO!! :o

In four trips to MGM in 15 years, I have never experienced the Cowboy version. I remember seeing promo materials featuring the cowboy, but I figured they had simply changed the show early in the ride's life. I was very surprised to learn that there were two versions which continue to be run (though the gangster version is much more common).

I have been on both. One time we had a great Gangster CM, he was really good and into it. I liked the explosion from the cowboy scene too. Its a toss up.

For some reason, I usually get the same gangster who is TERRIBLE. I have gotten him at least three times, and I always hope that he really gets shot during the shootout. One time, I got the cutest, tinyest girl gangster with a really cute, high voice. In response to whether you get the gangster or cowboy scene:

There are 2 seperate lines of the queue as you enter the attraction. I believe that if you go to the left you'll get the gangster scene, and if you go to the right you'll get the cowboy scene.

I like both, as the gangster scene has the emerging car with a hail of gunfire, and the cowboy scene has the exploding bank and consequential fire.

I like the cowboy scene because it is so rare that it is done. My best guess as to why they don't do it is because it is more costly when they have the explosion.

Just to add to my previous post as to whether you get the gangster or the cowboy scene:

The right line of the queue leads you to sit in the first units of the "train", the left line leads you to sit in the last units. As the train passes through the first scene (I believe that it's the gangster scene), the first units break away and continue forward to the cowboy scene, while the last units stop in the gangster scene. A door closes to separate and soundproof both scenes from each other. Both scenes play out, and the seperated units join back up later on the tour, after your tour guide reappears in the Indiana Jones scene.

It's been a few years since I've been down to WDW  , but I was always intrigued by this aspect of The Great Movie Ride. I forced my wife to ride it a few times with me until I had figured it out.

I'm always one to "go left", as these are supposed to be the shortest lines. In going left on The Great Movie Ride, I had always experienced the gangster scene and would always wonder why there was so much smoke lingering in the air as you passed through the cowboy scene.

I hope that my information is correct, I'm just going by memory.
