We're 69 days out but I want to start shopping for a good pair of sneakers for our trip. I've never been a big sneaker person so I have no idea what's popular now. Recommendations, please & thank you!

Yes, Sanuk flip flops are so comfortable - I was thrilled to see a store in Disney Springs. My wallet, not so much, lol.

Our first visit to WDW after a 14 year lapse was to Epcot. I wore my very comfortable Nike walking shoes. I could barely walk to and stand waiting for the bus at the end of the day, that's how bad my feet were. And we were leaving the next morning to go over to Uni. I didn't know how I'd manage to walk around Universal. Fortunately, our resort's gift shop had some Sanuk sandels. I didn't care if they were over $30, they went on my feet and those nice Nike shoes went in the trash as we walk to the boat to City Walk. I always bring a pair to wear in the evening if we don't visit a park.
Sign up for emails on the Sanuk website. They do incredible flash/clearance sales. I ordered 3 pairs of slings for like $50! Great deals!

I have a question. To those of you who say that you can not wear sneakers, what type of shoes do you wear all day at home? As someone who works on her feet, I have to wear sneakers, non-slip ones if I can find them. So I guess my feet are used to them. Even if I go out for more then a couple of hours I need to put them on. So I was just wondering what your normal every day foot wear is like.

When at home, I wear socks and my very comfortable LL Bean slippers. What I wear when leaving the house depends on what I'm doing/where I'm going and the weather. Summer: Go Walks, non-running athletic shoes or flip flops. Winter: non-running athletic shoes or a short boot type shoe. I'm retired, so I don't have to worry about work shoes, thank goodness. No more heels, even short ones!

In the warm months, dress sandals and Tieks. I'll wear Tieks until we're in snowville, then it's dress boots til winter breaks.
Edit: sorry, didn't see the at home part...at home...usually nothing. We have wood floors so socks are slippery and I get too hot with slippers.

By "at home" I meant not at WDW. So basically what do you wear to work everyday? I guess if I didn't work on my feet then I would probably just wear sandals if my feet could take it. But after all of these years, my poor feet just need the support. So my theory is that maybe those that are on their feet more need the actually support as opposed to those who maybe have desk jobs or do not work.

IMO Brooks offer the best support, regardless of which style you choose. New Balance are usually pretty good too, but can run small in certain styles (I tried on a pair in my normal size this past weekend and my toes were really crammed up against the end of the shoe). Skechers, while squishy and comfy have almost zero arch support so by the end of a normal day at work my feet hurt, I can't imagine wearing them all day walking around the parks!

I've never had issues with cotton socks, but I make sure I get the moisture wicking ones and make sure they fit well and don't bunch. We always carry blister Band-Aids, moleskin and Lanacane Anti-Friction gel in case of hot spots.

Not Keds. Please not Keds. Like chihuahuas, they are the ankle biters in shoes.

Get a good pair of sneakers. Personally, I wear asics. They make good everyday shoes.

I think it's important to switch up your shoes in WDW. I used to be able to wear Nike Celso flip flops every day, but my legs/hips/lower back can't handle it every day any more :( (Boo to aging!!) I still bring them and wear them quite a bit, though. I like them because the straps are thick enough to keep the sandal on your foot pretty well, and they are soft. I also hate having wet shoes/socks from rain or water rides. So, I like how these dry quickly. But, in recent years I've started adding my Brooks Ghost shoes to the mix and crossing my fingers we don't get rained on. ;) This year I'll add my sanuks too. I hoping that with the ankle support on the sanuks that I'll have the convenience of flip flops without the soreness that comes from having to keep them on your feet as you walk.
